Description
Gemini is the largest unit in the Light In Fitness rope play range: fourteen steel posts carrying thirteen suspended play modules, completed by a tube slide and a double slide dressed with HPL panels from the Animal graphic range. It is specified where one structure has to absorb the peak load of a destination park, a school campus or a resort playground.
Why specifiers choose Gemini
- Thirteen suspended modules spread climbing, traversing and balancing across a 21.8 m footprint, so activity does not concentrate at a single entry point.
- Two slide types — an enclosed tube slide and a side-by-side double slide — offer both a sheltered and a social descent from the same level.
- HPL graphic panels from the Animal range give the unit a strong visual identity without adding moving parts to maintain.
- A single free height of fall of 2.85 m applies across the whole structure, which keeps the surfacing specification consistent and straightforward to price.
- Posts, ropes and terminations are engineered as one system, so spare parts are ordered against a single drawing.
Construction and materials
The load-bearing frame is hot-dip galvanised steel. The play nets are braided polyamide rope — not stainless steel cable — and the decorative panels are high-pressure laminate. Foundations are reinforced concrete at 1.0 m depth. Delivery and installation call for site access suitable for heavy plant, which is worth confirming early on constrained urban sites.
Siting, safety area and surfacing
Gemini occupies 21.8 x 10.4 m on plan and requires a minimum safety area of 26.0 x 14.3 m kept clear of paths, planting and street furniture. The equipment itself is certified to EN 1176-1:2017 by an independent certification body. Surfacing is a separate subject: impact-attenuating surfacing is specified and tested to EN 1177, sized against the 2.85 m free height of fall. Our project team issues the siting drawing with the quotation so the surfacing contractor can price the correct area and critical fall height.

Frequently asked questions
How many children can Gemini accommodate at once?
Capacity is not fixed by the standard, but with thirteen suspended modules and two independent slide routes the unit is dimensioned for high-throughput sites. Our team models expected user numbers against your visitor figures when preparing the layout.
What surfacing is needed under a 2.85 m free height of fall?
Impact-attenuating surfacing tested to EN 1177 with a critical fall height of at least 2.85 m. Wet-pour rubber, rubber tiles or a certified loose-fill depth all qualify; the choice depends on drainage, budget and maintenance regime.
Can the graphic panels be changed?
Yes. The Animal range is the standard dressing for Gemini, and alternative HPL artwork can be quoted where a site has its own visual identity to follow.
