Description

Pegasus is a pure rope circuit: nine steel posts, ten suspended modules and no slides. Every square metre of the 10.5 x 8.9 m footprint is given over to climbing, traversing and balancing, which makes it the densest activity-per-square-metre unit in the Light In Fitness rope range.

Ten modules, one continuous route

The modules are hung between posts so that children can cross the whole structure without touching the ground. Route choice is deliberate: a confident climber can take the direct high line, while a cautious child can work the lower perimeter and still reach the same points. Because there is no slide to funnel users towards a single exit, movement stays distributed and supervision sightlines remain open across the unit.

Specification highlights

  • Nine steel posts, 168.3 mm diameter, hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated.
  • Braided polyamide rope, 18 mm diameter, with a zinc-coated steel core for tensile strength and cut resistance.
  • Aluminium and stainless steel connectors at the net junctions; the posts themselves are galvanised steel, not stainless.
  • Reinforced concrete foundations at 1.0 m depth.
  • Free height of fall of 2.85 m across the whole assembly.

Where Pegasus fits

The unit suits municipal parks and school grounds that already have swings, a slide tower or a sand area and need a climbing centrepiece rather than another multi-function tower. It also works well as the anchor of a phased scheme: the rope circuit goes in first, and complementary equipment is added around the safety area in later budget years.

Compliance and surfacing

Pegasus is certified to EN 1176-1:2017 by an independent certification body. EN 1176-1 covers the equipment. The surfacing beneath it is governed by EN 1177, which defines the test method and the critical fall height that surfacing must achieve — here, at least 2.85 m across the full 15.5 x 13.9 m safety area.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the rope reinforced with a steel core?

A braided polyamide sleeve gives grip and comfort in the hand; the zinc-coated steel strands inside carry the tensile load and resist deliberate cutting. The rope is a composite — it is not stainless steel cable and should not be specified as such.

Does powder coating change the maintenance regime?

No. Galvanising provides the corrosion protection; the powder coat is a colour finish over it. Annual inspection under EN 1176-7 remains the same as for a plain galvanised unit.

Can Pegasus be installed on an existing surfaced area?

Often yes, provided the existing surfacing is tested to EN 1177 with a critical fall height of 2.85 m or more and covers the full safety area. Send the surfacing test certificate with your enquiry and we will confirm.
