Description
Cetus is the four-mast set: four steel columns carrying four suspended modules on a 5.6 x 5.5 m square. It is the smallest structure in the mast-and-net system and the one most often specified where a site needs real rope play but has no room for a full climbing set.
Four modules, four masts, one square
With four masts at the corners and four modules between them, every net is anchored on two sides and every route crosses the middle. Children climb in, balance across and drop out on the far side; the structure is small enough to be read at a glance and varied enough to be worth repeating.
- Four steel columns supporting four suspended play modules
- Braided rope nets for balance and climbing
Rope construction in detail
The rope is 18 mm polyamide, braided and bonded, over a core of six-strand zinc-coated steel wire with an integrated polyamide fibre. That composite core is the reason the rope keeps its shape under years of load and cannot be severed in a single cut. It is worth noting what the rope is not: the core is galvanised steel wire inside a polyamide braid, not a stainless steel cable, and what children handle is the polyamide.
Materials
Steel columns of 168.3 mm diameter, hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated. Connectors in aluminium, stainless steel and plastic. Reinforced concrete foundations at 1.0 m depth.
Surfacing — which standard applies
The equipment is certified to EN 1176-1:2017 by an independent certification body. The impact-attenuating surface beneath it is a separate specification item: its critical fall height is established by testing to EN 1177, and it must cover the whole 9.6 x 9.6 m safety area for the 2.85 m free height of fall declared here. EN 1176-1 sets the requirements for the equipment and the free space around it; EN 1177 sets the requirements for the surfacing.

Frequently asked questions
How much ground does Cetus need?
About 92 m² for the safety area against a structure of only 31 m². On small sites the free space, not the equipment, is what decides whether it fits.
Is the smallest set built to a lower specification?
No. Same 168.3 mm columns, same rope, same connector materials and same 1.0 m foundations as the largest structures in the system.
Can two Cetus sets be installed side by side?
Yes, provided the safety areas do not overlap in a way that has not been assessed. Two sets are handled as one layout with a single siting drawing rather than as two independent orders.
Send us the plot dimensions and your surfacing intentions and we will return a costed proposal with the siting drawing for Cetus within 24 business hours.
