Description
Serpens is the compact end of the mast-and-net range: eight masts carrying five complementary net modules on a 10.5 x 4.3 m plot, standing 3.3 m high. It is the entry point into this construction system — the same 168.3 mm galvanised columns and the same rope specification as the largest structures, on a footprint a small site can absorb.
A continuous climbing route
The five modules are shaped to complement one another rather than to repeat. Crossing from one to the next is continuous: there is no return to ground, no separate access point for each element, and no dead space between modules. On a short structure that continuity is what keeps children engaged for longer than the size would suggest.
- Eight steel load-bearing masts
- Five net modules of complementary shapes and sizes
- Galvanised turnbuckles for rope tension adjustment
Rope specification
18 mm polyamide rope, braided and bonded, reinforced with an electro-galvanised steel core. Two things follow from that: the rope cannot be cut through in a single action, and the bonding holds the braid closed at the connectors where abrasion concentrates. This is the same rope used on the largest structures in the range — a smaller set is not a lighter one.
Materials
Steel columns of 168.3 mm diameter protected by hot-dip galvanising. Aluminium and stainless steel connectors. Reinforced concrete foundations at 1.0 m depth.
Surfacing
The landing area must be laid with an impact-attenuating surface suited to the 2.85 m free height of fall and certified to EN 1177, across the 15.6 x 8.3 m safety area. The equipment itself conforms to PN EN 1176-1:2017 with a certificate of conformity from an independent certification body; EN 1177 governs the surface below it.

Frequently asked questions
How much ground does Serpens need?
About 129 m² for the safety area. The structure itself is 45 m², so most of the reserved area is free space required by the standard rather than equipment.
Is a 1.0 m foundation depth necessary on a structure this small?
Yes. The masts carry dynamic loads from tensioned nets regardless of overall height, and the foundation depth reflects those loads rather than the size of the structure.
Can Serpens be extended with more modules later?
Not by adding to the existing mast grid. Larger models in the same system are the upgrade path, and the components are not transferable between layouts.
Send us the plot dimensions and your surfacing intentions and we will return a costed proposal with the siting drawing for Serpens within 24 business hours.
