Description
Grus concentrates twelve suspended net modules onto nine masts within a 9.7 x 9.6 m square. That ratio — more nets than masts — is what gives it an unusually dense climbing offer for its plot, and it is the reason it is specified where a site has a limited square of usable ground and needs to get the most play out of it.
Density on a small square
Twelve modules on a plot under 100 m² means nets meeting at different angles rather than sitting in one plane. Children can traverse across, climb up through and drop between them, so the number of distinct routes is much higher than the module count suggests. For a school or a neighbourhood park with one square of ground to work with, this is a more efficient use of the area than a linear structure of the same cost.
- Nine steel load-bearing masts
- Twelve net modules suspended between the masts
- Galvanised turnbuckles for rope tension adjustment
Materials and protective detailing
Steel masts of 168.3 mm diameter, hot-dip galvanised, on concrete foundations. Braided polyamide rope with a zinc-coated steel core. Stainless steel and aluminium connectors with chlorinated rubber protective coverings. Those coverings are the detail worth noting: they sit over the connector hardware at the points where children grip and where clothing could catch, and they take the wear that would otherwise fall on the metal.
Surfacing
The free height of fall is 2.85 m. The impact area requires an impact-attenuating surface certified to EN 1177 for a critical fall height of at least 2.85 m across the full 13.9 x 13.9 m safety area. The equipment itself conforms to PN EN 1176-1:2017 with a certificate of conformity issued by an independent certification body; the surface is covered by EN 1177.

Frequently asked questions
How much ground do I need in total?
A clear square of about 194 m² for the safety area, plus circulation outside it. The structure itself takes under 100 m², so roughly half the reserved area is free space required by the standard.
Why is the free height of fall 2.85 m on a 3.8 m structure?
Fall height is measured from the highest accessible climbing position, not from the top of the masts, which extend above the nets.
What do the turnbuckles do in service?
They let rope tension be reset as the nets bed in and as the busier modules stretch. Check them through the first season and then at each annual inspection.
