Description
Carina spans 27.1 x 15.3 m on just eighteen masts, carrying eleven specialised net modules. The ratio is deliberate: fewer masts over a longer span means larger individual nets, and larger nets flex more and behave differently underfoot from the tight modules used on compact structures.
Specialised modules rather than repeated ones
The eleven modules are not eleven copies. Each is designed for a different movement — vertical climbing, horizontal traverse, a sagging span that requires balance, a tight mesh that suits younger users. Sequencing different module types along a 27 m span gives children a progression rather than a repetition, and it means the structure can hold the full 5 to 14 range without any part of it being trivial or unreachable.
- Eighteen steel load-bearing masts
- Eleven specialised net modules suspended between the masts
- Galvanised turnbuckles for rope tension adjustment
Long span, low height
At 3.8 m high with a 2.85 m free height of fall, Carina reads as a landscape element rather than a structure. The 31.3 x 20.3 m safety area is the figure that governs siting — about 635 m² of clear ground — and the elongated proportion works well parallel to a path, a hedge line or a park boundary.
Materials
Steel masts of 168.3 mm diameter, hot-dip galvanised. Nets in 18 mm polyamide rope, braided and bonded, reinforced with a zinc-coated steel core. Aluminium and stainless steel connectors. Foundations at 1.0 m depth. Site plant access may be required for installation.
Surfacing
The impact area requires an impact-attenuating surface certified to EN 1177 for a critical fall height of at least 2.85 m. The equipment itself conforms to PN EN 1176-1:2017 with a certificate of conformity from an independent certification body; the surfacing is a separate line item under EN 1177.

Frequently asked questions
Do larger nets need more frequent tensioning?
They bed in more over the first season, which is why the galvanised turnbuckles are specified. Plan a tension check a few months after commissioning and then at each annual inspection.
Is Carina suitable for a school as well as a park?
Yes, provided the 635 m² of clear ground is available. The low height suits school supervision, and the range of module types covers a full primary intake.
Can the structure follow a curved path?
The mast grid is set out in straight lines. Where a curved alignment is needed, the structure is normally set parallel to the chord of the curve and the landscape design brought round it.
Send us the length and width of the strip you have available, plus ground conditions and surfacing intentions, and we will return a costed proposal with the siting drawing for Carina within 24 business hours.
