Description
Centaurus combines a six-post rope frame carrying five suspended modules with an integrated straight slide. It is the mid-size unit in the range: broader and more varied than a compact structure, but without the plant and budget commitment of a twenty-metre destination assembly.
Climb, traverse, slide
The five modules are arranged so that the slide sits at the end of a natural progression rather than as an isolated attraction. A child works across the rope nets, gains the higher module and leaves by the slide — a loop that keeps circulation moving in one direction and reduces the crossing conflicts that appear when a slide is bolted onto the middle of a structure.
Specification highlights
- Six hot-dip galvanised steel posts carrying five suspended play modules.
- One integrated straight slide, positioned at the end of the circuit.
- Braided polyamide rope reinforced with galvanised steel strands.
- Reinforced concrete foundations at 1.0 m depth.
- Footprint of 11.0 x 7.5 m with a 14.9 x 12.5 m minimum safety area.
Who it suits
Centaurus is a common choice for primary school grounds serving key stage two, for neighbourhood parks with a mixed age profile, and for holiday parks that need a single recognisable structure rather than a scattered collection of items. The overall height of 3.3 m keeps it visually modest, while the 2.85 m free height of fall places it firmly in the surfaced-playground category.
Compliance and surfacing
The equipment is certified to EN 1176-1:2017 by an independent certification body. That standard governs the structure. The impact-attenuating surface is a separate item, specified and tested to EN 1177, and must deliver a critical fall height of at least 2.85 m over the full safety area. Installation requires access for heavy plant.

Frequently asked questions
Does the slide need its own clearance zone?
The 14.9 x 12.5 m safety area already accounts for the slide run-out. It must not be reduced on the slide side, and no seating, planting or fencing should sit inside it.
What maintenance does the rope need?
Routine visual inspection for cut or abraded strands, and periodic re-tensioning at the terminations. Both are covered in the inspection schedule supplied with the handover file.
How long does installation take?
Foundation excavation, concrete cure and assembly are typically staged over one to two weeks on site, plus the surfacing programme. The exact sequence is set out in the method statement issued with the quotation.
