Description
The TRAINER Steel4Fit Nordic Walker D04 is a pylon-mounted outdoor walking trainer measuring 1,005 x 540 x 1,495 mm and weighing 49 kg. It is rated easy, certified to EN 16630:2015 by TUV Rheinland, and priced at 2,052 EUR excluding VAT.
Cardio that unloads the hip
The station reproduces the nordic walking pattern: legs swinging in opposition while the arms drive the handles. Because the feet stay on the platforms, there is no impact phase, so hip joint loading is markedly lower than in walking or running. That combination – genuine cardio-respiratory work with reduced joint load – is what makes it the station most used by older users on a public trail.
It strengthens the leg and hip muscles and improves coordination. Difficulty is rated easy and effort is set by cadence alone.

Where it is installed
Urban parks, municipal fitness areas and shared sports spaces under intensive, frequent use. EN 16630:2015 is the European standard for permanently installed outdoor fitness equipment and the reference specified in public tenders. Keep the 354 x 400.5 cm safety area clear and surfaced to the free height of fall.

Grouping modules on one pylon
Because the D04 mounts on a pylon, it can share a mast with other Steel4Fit modules, including the triple pylon that carries three units on a single anchoring point. On a constrained site that reduces the number of concrete foundations, the number of separate safety areas to keep clear, and the installation time. Our layout study sets out which combinations work together and what safety area the resulting cluster requires.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the D04 and the R04?
The D04 mounts on a Steel4Fit pylon, so several modules can share one anchoring point and one foundation. The R04 is the standalone version on its own base. Choose the D04 for compact multi-station clusters, the R04 for units spaced along a trail.
Is it suitable for older users?
Yes, and it is usually the reason it is specified. There is no impact phase and no load to select, so a user in their seventies and a teenager use the same station without any adjustment.
What maintenance is needed?
An annual inspection of the pivot bearings, anchor bolts and coating. No cable, stack or upholstery to replace.
