Description
The TRAINER long horizontal ladder is a 316 cm monkey bar module for outdoor street workout and calisthenics parks, certified to EN 16630:2015 and tested by TUV Rheinland. Its length is the point: instead of two or three rungs, users traverse a full run in suspension, which turns the exercise from a static hang into a coordinated grip, shoulder and trunk task. The structure weighs 125 kg, stands 220 cm high and takes users up to 150 kg.

What the long format trains
A short ladder tests whether a user can hang. A 316 cm run tests whether they can move while hanging, and that is a different physical demand. Each release and catch loads the grip flexors eccentrically, the lats and rear shoulder decelerate the swing, and the abdominal wall has to stop the body rotating between rungs. Repeated traverses also raise heart rate quickly, which is why the module is used as a conditioning station in obstacle race training as much as a strength station in calisthenics.
- Traverse, skip rung and reverse traverse progressions on one structure
- Also serves as a pull up and hanging leg raise station at each end frame
- Works arms, back, shoulders, abdominal wall and grip in a single exercise
- Modular geometry, combines freely with other TRAINER street workout modules
- Ground anchored for permanent outdoor installation
Materials, siting and safety zone
The tubular frame is shot blasted and hot dip galvanised before painting, so corrosion protection sits under the coating rather than depending on it. The two coat polyester finish then handles UV and rain. That build is what makes the module suitable for unsupervised public installation in coastal, urban and mountain climates alike.
Plan the site around the 500 x 716 cm safety area, not around the 316 x 100 cm structure. Free height of fall from the rungs requires impact attenuating surfacing across that whole zone, typically rubber tiles, wet pour or a certified loose fill depth, specified against the fall height in the installation drawing. Ground anchoring is required. As with all publicly accessible outdoor fitness equipment, the operator should log routine visual inspections and an annual main inspection.
Frequently asked questions
Who is the module suitable for?
Users of 140 cm and above, up to 150 kg, at an intermediate difficulty level. It is designed for teenagers and adults in public parks and city stadiums, not for young children, and should be sited accordingly when a park also contains junior equipment.
Can it be combined with other stations?
Yes. TRAINER modules share a common geometry and can be assembled into a continuous street workout circuit, so the ladder is often placed between a pull up frame and a parallel bar station to build a traverse and press sequence.
What maintenance does an outdoor structure of this type need?
Periodic checks of the ground anchors, tightening of fixings, inspection of the paint for impact damage and a look at the surfacing under the traverse line. Galvanised steel does not need repainting for protection, so touch up work is cosmetic rather than structural.
