Description

The TRAINER E32 accessible arm cycle measures 70 x 45 x 202 cm and needs a safety zone of 370 x 345 cm. It is a hand-cranked station: the user pedals with the arms rather than the legs, from a seated position in their own wheelchair.

The cardio station of an inclusive circuit

Most accessible outdoor equipment trains strength: pushing and pulling against body weight, a set at a time. An arm cycle does something different. It is continuous, so it can be worked for minutes rather than repetitions, which is what raises heart rate and builds cardiovascular condition. For a wheelchair user, that is the piece usually missing from a public fitness area, and it is why the E32 is rated moderate rather than easy: sustained upper-body cardio is demanding work.

  • Muscles worked: arms and shoulders
  • Develops cardiovascular condition through continuous effort
  • Difficulty rating: moderate
  • Maximum user weight 150 kg

Materials and compliance

The structure is high-grade steel, shot-blasted and galvanised, with a double layer of polyester paint for weather resistance. The station complies with EN 16630:2015-06 and has been tested and certified by TUV Rheinland. Standard colourways are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006), with other shades quoted on request.

Building the accessible cluster

With a 370 x 345 cm safety zone, the E32 has the smallest clear-area requirement of the accessible stations, which makes it the easiest to add to an existing layout. Grouped with the accessible bike and the low and high trainers, it completes a circuit that covers pushing, pulling, legs and cardio for a seated user within a few metres.

Frequently asked questions

Why is it rated moderate rather than easy?

Because sustained arm cranking is harder than it looks. The arms have a far smaller muscle mass than the legs, so heart rate rises quickly and the effort is genuinely demanding even at low resistance.

Can it be used by standing users?

Yes, and it commonly is. Arm cycling is a useful warm-up and a low-impact cardio option for anyone, which keeps the station in regular use.

What upkeep does the crank mechanism need?

Visual inspection of the bearing housing and the fixings under the standard EN 16630 routine. The galvanising and double paint system means no scheduled repainting in normal service.

Give us the site plan, the access routes and the number of stations, and we will return an inclusive layout proposal with a full quotation.
