Description

The Ellipse Incline Chest Press is an Olympic plate-loaded pressing machine set at an incline angle, targeting the upper chest and anterior deltoid. It measures 154 x 103 x 168.5 cm and weighs 160 kg. Light In Fitness supplies it at 1,650 EUR excluding VAT.

Why a separate incline station

Horizontal pressing loads the sternal head of the pectoralis major. The clavicular head, which runs from the collarbone and gives the chest its upper shape, is only meaningfully recruited when the torso is inclined. Members who train exclusively on a flat chest press develop a visible imbalance and, more practically, an under-trained anterior shoulder. A dedicated incline machine is the fastest way to close that gap without asking anyone to set up a bench and a barbell.

  • Fixed incline pressing angle, plate-loaded on an integrated disc support
  • Targets the clavicular head of the pectoralis major and the anterior deltoid
  • Quick spring seat height adjustment
  • Narrow 103 cm width, easier to place than a flat press

Gentler on the shoulder than a free incline

A free incline barbell press puts the shoulder in a position where any loss of control loads the joint rather than the muscle. On a guided incline the path cannot deviate, the load stays on the pressing line, and a failed repetition simply returns to the stop. For clubs with an older membership or an unsupervised evening period, that is the deciding argument.

Ellipse build standard

Pulleys are high-strength nylon, 105 x 20 mm, on sealed 6202RS bearings. Finish is a two-pass powder coating with a clear top coat; frame and arm colours are chosen at order. Upholstery is polyurethane foam under synthetic leather, with contoured seat and back support that hold the pelvis and shoulder blades in place through the press. Handle and foot support areas are aluminium.

Frequently asked questions

Is the incline angle adjustable?

The pressing angle is fixed by the frame geometry; what the user adjusts is the seat height, which changes where the handles meet the torso. That is a deliberate design choice: a fixed angle keeps the biomechanics consistent between users and removes a setting that is frequently got wrong on adjustable machines.

Should a club install both a flat and an incline press?

On a floor above roughly 200 m2, yes. Below that, most operators choose the flat press first because it serves more members, and add the incline station when the strength area is extended. The two are dimensioned to sit side by side.

What load should be planned for?

Incline pressing loads run roughly 15 to 20 per cent below flat pressing for the same user, so a 100 kg plate set per station is generally sufficient for a club environment. We quote the plates with the machine.
