Chest support changes what the exercise trains

A free barbell row asks the lower back and the hip hinge to hold position before the back muscles do any work, and technique degrades as soon as fatigue arrives. The SG16 puts a chest pad between the user and the load, so the torso is fixed and the pulling muscles receive the effort directly.

The result is a movement that beginners can perform correctly on their first session and that experienced members can load heavily without the lumbar cost of a bent over row.

What is the difference with a selectorised seated row?

A selectorised row uses a cable, a pulley set and a pin selected stack. The SG16 uses discs directly, so there is no cable to inspect or replace, the resistance profile follows the plate mass, and the purchase price is lower. The trade off is that plates have to be loaded and unloaded between users.

How many discs should be ordered?

A 50 kg set of 50 mm Olympic discs per station covers most programming and leaves headroom below the recommended 77.5 kg ceiling. Discs are quoted separately from the 1,561 EUR excluding VAT machine price.

Can it be used without supervision?

Yes. The chest pad fixes the torso and the trajectory is guided, so the risk of a technique error under load is low compared with a free barbell row.
