Description
The Bodytone Solid Grow SG20 is a plate-loaded shoulder press with a guided pressing path and a recommended maximum load of 87 kg on 50 mm Olympic sleeves. It sits in the Solid Grow range, built for small clubs, independent coaches and premium home gyms, and is supplied by Light In Fitness at 1,701 EUR excluding VAT.
A guided overhead press for facilities without a spotter
Free-weight overhead pressing needs technique and, above a certain load, a second person. The SG20 puts the movement on rails: the bar path is fixed, the start position is set by the rack, and the user can fail a repetition without dropping a barbell. For a studio with unsupervised opening hours or a coach working one to one, that removes the main practical objection to heavy shoulder work.
- Rail-guided pressing path, repeatable from set to set
- Recommended maximum load of 87 kg
- 50 mm Olympic sleeves; plates are not included
- Primary muscles: deltoids. Secondary: triceps
Where Solid Grow sits in the Bodytone catalogue
Solid Grow is the entry to mid-range plate-loaded line. It uses the same loading principle as the heavier Solid Rock SRX series but with a smaller footprint and a lower price point, and its load ceiling is set accordingly at 87 kg rather than the 250 kg of the professional range. For a 100 to 300 m2 club, a boxing or CrossFit box adding a strength corner, or a residential gym, that ceiling is well above what the equipment will actually see.
Why a shoulder press station earns its floor space
Overhead pressing is one of the few movements that most members will not perform correctly without equipment support, and it is one of the most requested. A guided station raises the proportion of members who train the deltoids at all, and it reduces the coaching time spent correcting a barbell press. It also pairs naturally with a chest press and a lat pulldown to form a compact upper-body circuit.

Frequently asked questions
Are the plates included in the price?
No. The 1,701 EUR excluding VAT covers the machine only. We normally quote a 50 kg set of 50 mm plates alongside each Solid Grow station, which covers most users on a shoulder press; heavier sets are available for facilities training advanced lifters.
How does the SG20 compare with the Solid Rock SRX shoulder press?
Same loading principle, different duty. Solid Rock uses heavier gauge sections and higher load ceilings for high-traffic commercial floors; Solid Grow is dimensioned and priced for smaller sites. If your club runs more than roughly 300 visits a week on the strength floor, specify Solid Rock instead.
Is it suitable for a home gym?
Yes, provided the room has the ceiling height for a seated overhead press and a floor that will take a concentrated load. It is a common choice for premium residential installations because it removes the need for a spotter.
