Description
The TRAINER D51 leg extension is an outdoor strength station whose resistance adjusts automatically to the body weight of the user: 83 x 69 x 120 cm, 45 kg, safety zone 383 x 369 cm. EN 16630:2015-06, certified by TUV Rheinland. Price: 1,488 EUR excluding VAT.
Resistance that sets itself
The central problem of outdoor strength equipment is that there is nobody to set the load. Fixed resistance stations are too hard for some users and pointless for others, and adjustable ones get left at whatever the last person chose.
The D51 solves it mechanically: the resistance is proportional to the body weight of the person using it. A lighter user meets a lighter load, a heavier user meets a heavier one, and the relative effort stays comparable across a population that ranges from teenagers to retired members. Nothing is set, so nothing can be set wrongly.
Targeted quadriceps work
The station specifically targets the knee extensor muscles and the quadriceps. That is unusual outdoors, where most leg stations are cardiac rather than muscular: bikes, steppers, walkers. Quadriceps strength is one of the clearest predictors of functional independence in older adults and one of the first things to be lost after a knee injury, which makes a dedicated extension station a genuinely useful addition to a health trail rather than a duplicate of the cardio units.

Frequently asked questions
How can the resistance follow the user body weight?
The lever geometry uses part of the user own mass as the load, so the effort scales with the person rather than with a setting. This is what makes body weight proportional stations the standard choice for unsupervised public areas.
Can it be used in rehabilitation?
It is frequently specified for outdoor areas attached to care and rehabilitation facilities, because the movement is single joint, guided and self paced. Whether it fits a particular protocol is a decision for the physiotherapist or the physician.
How much surface does the station need in total?
The apparatus occupies 83 x 69 cm, but the safety zone of 383 x 369 cm is what governs the spacing. Allow around 14 square metres per station when sizing an area, before circulation.
Send us the surface available and the profile of your users and we will return a layout plan and a written quotation covering the equipment, the foundations, the surfacing and installation in France. See the outdoor fitness trail range and the full outdoor gym equipment catalogue.
