Description
The Lumbar Bench TRAINER is a compact pylon-mounted outdoor back-extension station from the OutdoorFit range: 81 x 66 x 202 cm, 20 kg, certified to EN 16630:2015 by TUV Rheinland. It strengthens the back extensor muscles and works the abdominals through a controlled trunk flexion-extension movement.
The prevention station every circuit needs
Lower-back pain is the most common complaint among adult park users, and back extensions are one of the simplest ways to address it. On this bench the user anchors the legs and performs flexion-extension of the trunk, strengthening the erector spinae while recruiting the abdominals on the return. Rated moderate, the movement suits regular exercisers as well as adults returning to activity, making the station a sensible inclusion in any municipal health trail.
Compact, pylon-mounted format
Like the rest of the OutdoorFit range, the lumbar bench mounts on a support pylon or load-bearing wall rather than standing alone. Several compact modules can share one pylon, which reduces groundworks and packs more training functions into a small urban footprint. The support pylon is not included and is sold separately.

Who benefits most from this station
Local authorities specify the lumbar bench for exactly the users classic outdoor gyms overlook: adults with sedentary jobs, seniors maintaining mobility and residents returning to activity after inactivity. Back-extension work requires no coordination learning curve, so the station performs well on unsupervised sites, and its moderate rating keeps it appropriate for open access. On corporate campuses and residence gardens it often becomes the most-used unit of the circuit, precisely because lower-back stiffness is the most widespread complaint among the target public. Paired with a twister on the same pylon, it forms a compact trunk-care duo that fits where a full circuit will not.
Frequently asked questions
Which muscles does the lumbar bench work?
Primarily the back extensors along the spine, with the abdominals engaged during the controlled return. Strengthening both sides of the trunk is a recognised approach to preventing everyday lower-back pain.
Do I need to budget for a pylon?
Yes. The price covers the bench module only; the support pylon or wall fixing is quoted separately. On multi-module projects one pylon can carry several stations, so ask for a layout-based quotation.
Is the station suitable for unsupervised public use?
Yes. It is certified to EN 16630:2015 by TUV Rheinland and rated as a moderate exercise, appropriate for open-access parks and health trails.
