Description
SANCHO is close to square at 8.7 x 8.2 m and stands only 2.8 m high. The symmetry is the point: children can join the structure from any side, so groups arriving from different directions distribute themselves naturally instead of converging on one entrance.
Four-sided access in practice
- Climbing nets on every face, each one a valid way in
- Raised play platforms reachable by more than one route
- A secure access point suited to the youngest users
- Approved from 0 to 14 years, free height of fall held to 1.0 m
In a school playground where a whole year group arrives at the same moment, a single-entry structure creates a queue and a supervision problem within seconds. A symmetrical layout removes it. The 2.8 m overall height also keeps the whole unit within the sightline of a member of staff standing at the edge of the surfacing.
Materials
Stainless steel posts, 18 mm polyamide rope with a braided galvanised steel core that is cut resistant and UV stabilised, aluminium and stainless steel connectors, HPL decorative panels and high-strength concrete foundations at 0.6 m depth.

Frequently asked questions
Why does a 2.8 m structure only have a 1.0 m fall height?
Free height of fall measures the greatest distance a user can actually fall from a supported body position, not the height of the highest post. The platform levels and the enclosing nets on SANCHO keep that figure at 1.0 m throughout.
Does the square plan need a square plot?
The reserved zone is 11.3 x 11.1 m, so an approximately square area is needed. On rectangular plots JONKER at 17.5 x 7.5 m or MOUNTY at 12.6 x 9.4 m usually sit better.
Is SANCHO suitable for supervised group activity?
Yes. Four-sided access, an open 2.8 m profile and a uniform fall height make it straightforward to run structured sessions with a class, which is why it is a common choice for primary schools and holiday clubs.
