Description
CENTENARY solves a specific procurement problem: how to give older children a real physical challenge when the available plot is only a few metres across. The unit measures 5.6 x 4.5 m, stands 3.3 m high and retains a 2.3 m free height of fall, which is the same challenge level as structures twice its footprint.
Challenge in a small plot
- Platforms arranged around a rope net network rather than in a single stack
- A progressive climbing route with several changes of direction
- Climbing and gripping elements sized for children who have outgrown toddler equipment
- A reserved zone of only 8.5 x 7.5 m
Most compact play equipment achieves its small footprint by lowering the challenge, which is why so many small playgrounds are abandoned by the eight-to-twelve age band. CENTENARY takes the opposite approach: it keeps the height and the difficulty and shrinks the plan.
Materials
Stainless steel posts, 18 mm polyamide rope with a braided galvanised steel core that is cut resistant and UV stabilised, aluminium and stainless steel connectors, HPL decorative panels resistant to weather and impact, and high-strength concrete foundations at 0.6 m depth.

Frequently asked questions
Is a small unit with a 2.3 m fall height still compliant?
Yes. Fall height and footprint are independent variables under EN 1176. What the 2.3 m figure does determine is the impact-attenuating surface, which must be specified for that height across the full 8.5 x 7.5 m safety area.
Will it hold the interest of older children?
The changes of direction and the height are what keep the eight-to-twelve group engaged. Where a site needs to serve that band and toddlers at the same time, pairing CENTENARY with a low unit such as ORLOV covers both without either being a compromise.
What is the delivery and installation footprint?
Foundations are cast at 0.6 m depth and the components are light enough for compact plant, so CENTENARY is a realistic option for enclosed courtyards and sites with restricted vehicle access.
