Description
EXCELSIOR spreads its play across a 7.2 x 6.3 m plan and stays low, at 2.8 m high with a 1.0 m free height of fall. The wide, open layout is deliberate: young children explore by moving sideways and doubling back, not by climbing straight up, and equipment that gives them room to do that holds their attention far longer.
Built for early-years movement
- Climbing nets on several faces, close enough together for short limbs
- Raised play platforms at accessible heights
- A secure access point designed for very young users
- Generous circulation space between elements, so children are not funnelled
Practical considerations for nurseries and family sites
A low, spread-out structure is easier to supervise because an adult can see every part of it from one position, and easier to reach with a pushchair because the surfacing runs level around the whole unit. The 1.0 m free height of fall keeps the impact-attenuating build-up shallow across the 9.7 x 9.2 m safety area, which is often what makes an early-years scheme affordable once groundworks are priced.
Materials
Stainless steel posts, 18 mm polyamide rope with a braided galvanised steel core that is cut resistant and UV stabilised, aluminium and stainless steel connectors, HPL decorative panels and high-strength concrete foundations at 0.6 m depth.

Frequently asked questions
Can a pushchair be brought up to the equipment?
A level, bonded surfacing finish around the unit allows wheeled access right up to the edge of the structure. Specify the surfacing accordingly if step-free access matters on your site.
Will older children ignore it?
Older children use it, but it is not built to challenge them. On a mixed site, pair EXCELSIOR with a taller unit such as CENTENARY or MOUNTY so each age band has equipment pitched at its own level.
How does it compare with CHARA?
Both share the 9.7 x 9.2 m safety area and the 1.0 m fall height. CHARA is slightly taller at 3.4 m with a marine theme and a more vertical arrangement; EXCELSIOR stays at 2.8 m and prioritises open circulation at ground and platform level.
