Description
PHARE is a landmark piece. Inspired by a coastal lighthouse, the tower rises to 11.8 m and carries three stacked horizontal platforms around a central rope core, with a panoramic viewpoint at the top and two polyethylene slides for the descent. Where a destination park needs one structure that draws visitors from across a town, this is the scale of intervention it takes.
How the tower is organised
- Three stacked horizontal platforms linked by a central rope core with half-levels
- An external rope pyramid forming the outer climbing access
- A panoramic viewpoint crowning the structure
- Two polyethylene slides, one curved and one spiral, handling the descent flow
- Hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated steel structural posts
Separating ascent from descent is what makes a tower of this height work in practice. Children climb the outer pyramid and the rope core, then leave by slide, so the vertical circulation does not jam at peak times.
Materials
Structural posts are hot-dip galvanised steel with a powder-coated finish. Ropes are 18 mm polyamide with a braided galvanised steel core, cut resistant and UV stabilised, joined by aluminium and stainless steel connectors. The slides are high-density polyethylene and the decorative elements are HPL panels. Everything is founded on high-strength concrete at 1.0 m depth.

Frequently asked questions
Does an 11.8 m tower mean an 11.8 m fall height?
No. The free height of fall is 2.5 m, because the enclosing rope net and the platform arrangement limit how far a user can actually fall at any point. Your surfacing specification is dimensioned from 2.5 m, not from the overall height.
What site access is needed for installation?
A structure of this height and mass requires lifting plant and a clear route to the foundations, which are cast at 1.0 m depth. We survey access before confirming the installation programme.
Can the tower be finished in our own colours?
The steel posts are powder coated, so a colour scheme can be agreed at order stage. Tell us your palette or heritage constraints and we will confirm what is achievable.
PHARE suits destination parks, large campsites and waterfront regeneration schemes. Send us your site plan and we will return a costed proposal with layout drawing. See related play towers or request a quote.
