Description
RICCIA is the unit to specify when the users are small and the space is modest. It measures 5.4 x 3.0 m, stands 3.1 m high and holds the free height of fall to 1.0 m, which makes it a realistic first climbing experience for nursery and reception-age children rather than a scaled-down version of an older-child structure.
Built around early climbing
- Climbing nets on the faces of the structure, with holds close together for short reaches
- A single raised play platform as a clear, achievable destination
- A secure access point dimensioned for very young children
- Approved from 0 to 14 years, with a 1.0 m free height of fall throughout
The narrow rectangular plan is useful in itself. A 5.4 x 3.0 m unit sits comfortably along the edge of a nursery garden or against the long side of a courtyard, leaving the central space free for running and wheeled toys.
Materials
Stainless steel posts, 18 mm polyamide rope with a braided galvanised steel core that is cut resistant and UV stabilised, aluminium and stainless steel connectors, HPL decorative panels and high-strength concrete foundations at 0.6 m depth. There is no timber to rot and no painted steel to touch up, which matters in settings where maintenance windows are short.

Frequently asked questions
Is RICCIA appropriate for a nursery or pre-school setting?
Yes. The low fall height, the compact plan and the access point designed for very young users all point at early-years settings, and the same specification works in a small residential courtyard.
What surfacing does a 1.0 m fall height call for?
An impact-attenuating surface dimensioned for 1.0 m across the 8.4 x 6.3 m safety area. That is a shallower and cheaper build-up than the taller units in the range require, which often makes RICCIA the affordable option once surfacing is included.
Can it be combined with other equipment?
It can, provided each unit keeps its own safety area clear and overlapping zones are checked against the equipment with the greater fall height. We mark the combined zones on the layout drawing supplied with every quotation.
