Description
IMPERIAL packs a dense network of ropes and nets across several levels between raised platforms. On a 7.6 x 5.8 m footprint it delivers considerably more climbable surface than a single-tower frame of the same plot size, which is why it is usually specified for sites with continuous footfall — town-centre parks, busy campsites, primary schools with a single hard-worked play area.
Built around wear, not just play
The play argument for a dense net network is variety. The specification argument is wear. Traffic on a multi-level rope network is distributed across many rope runs instead of concentrating on one ladder and one platform edge, so no single component reaches its replacement threshold years before the rest. On a site that sees a school group every weekday, that difference shows up in the maintenance budget rather than in the purchase price.
- Stainless steel structural posts
- Rope and net network across several levels
- Interconnected raised play platforms
- Varied climbing and traverse zones
Materials
Stainless steel posts, 18 mm polyamide rope with a braided galvanised steel core, cut-resistant and UV-stabilised, assembled with aluminium and stainless steel connectors. HPL decorative panels, resistant to weather and impact. High-strength concrete foundations at 0.6 m depth. The posts are stainless and therefore need no repainting; the ropes are polyamide over a galvanised steel core, so the surface in contact with children is textile, not metal.
Siting and surfacing
Footprint 7.6 x 5.8 m, height 3.3 m, minimum safety area 10.6 x 9.1 m. The free height of fall is 2.4 m, so the impact area requires an impact-attenuating surface certified to EN 1177 for a critical fall height of at least 2.4 m. The equipment itself is certified to EN 1176 by an independent certification body; the surface underneath it falls under EN 1177 and is priced separately.

Frequently asked questions
What is the expected service life on a heavily used site?
Stainless posts and concrete foundations are long-life items. The ropes are the consumable: on a high-traffic site expect to replace individual rope runs before any structural element, which is a modest recurring cost rather than a capital renewal.
Can individual ropes be replaced without dismantling the structure?
Yes. Rope runs are connected mechanically at the posts and platforms, so a single damaged run can be swapped in service. Keeping a small stock of the common lengths on site shortens downtime.
Does the 3 to 14 declared range mean toddlers can use it unsupervised?
No. Equipment declared from 3 years is designed for supervised use by that age group. The lower rope zones suit younger children; the upper levels and the 2.4 m fall height are the reason the surfacing specification must cover the full area.
