Description
THAR delivers a large, balanced rope structure — 8.9 by 8.3 m, climbing nets on several faces, raised platforms, a secure access point for young children — while holding the free height of fall to 1.0 m. That combination is unusual, and it is the reason THAR is specified by nurseries, family attractions, retail and leisure venues and social housing schemes far more often than its size alone would suggest.
Large play value, low fall height
- Balanced square plan: children spread in all directions, and no face becomes the only way in.
- Climbing nets on several faces plus raised platforms, giving the variety of a large structure without the exposure.
- Secure access point designed for young children, which supports the full 0 to 14 age range.
- Free height of fall of 1.0 m over an 11.3 by 11.1 m impact area — roughly 125 m2 to surface, at the least demanding specification in this range.
The total project cost argument
Compare two structures of similar footprint. One has a free height of fall approaching 3.0 m and requires a surface tested to that height across its whole impact area; the other, like THAR, requires only 1.0 m. The equipment cost may be comparable, but the surfacing, and often the depth of the ground build-up, is not. On projects where the surfacing is being installed from scratch, that difference frequently exceeds the difference in equipment price.
Materials and construction
Stainless steel structural posts; 18 mm polyamide rope with a braided galvanised steel core, cut-resistant and UV-stable; aluminium and stainless steel connectors; impact and weather resistant HPL decorative panels; high-strength concrete foundations at 0.6 m depth. Comparable models are shown under Diamond Collection play structures.

Frequently asked questions
Will older children find a 1.0 m fall height too tame?
The challenge on a rope structure comes from the nets, not from the drop. Children of ten and twelve use THAR hard; what the geometry removes is the consequence of a fall, not the difficulty of the climb.
Is it suitable for an indoor or covered play space?
The structure is designed for outdoor use, but the low fall height makes covered installations feasible where the headroom allows 3.7 m plus clearance. Send us the building section and we will confirm.
What is the difference between THAR and NEGEV?
The same design approach at a different scale: THAR is 8.9 by 8.3 m against 7.7 by 6.4 m, with a correspondingly larger impact area. Choose on the ground you can clear and on the number of children using it at peak times.
Send us your available area and your surfacing intentions, and we will return a costed proposal covering equipment, foundations, installation and the EN 1176 documentation within 24 business hours.
