Description
ORDOS trades ground for height. On a footprint of 3.5 by 3.2 m it rises to 3.9 m, with climbing nets and ropes on several levels and a raised platform at the top. The impact area is 6.0 by 5.6 m — about 34 m2 — which is less than many single swings require, and that is what makes it the rope structure to specify when a play area has already been laid out and there is one gap left.
Vertical play in a small area
- Climbing nets and rope elements on several levels, so the challenge is stacked rather than spread.
- A raised platform as the objective: a defined top to reach, which is what sustains repeat attempts.
- Dedicated climbing and gripping elements for children who want a harder route than the nets.
- Free height of fall of 2.3 m, lower than the larger structures in the range, which reduces the surfacing specification over an already small area.
Where it fits
ORDOS is the retrofit item of the Desert range. Urban pocket parks, residential courtyards, hotel gardens and school yards that are already committed to a layout can usually find 6.0 by 5.6 m; they cannot find 14 by 12 m. It also works as a satellite challenge item beside a larger structure, giving older children somewhere to go when the main unit is crowded with younger ones.
Materials and construction
Structural posts are stainless steel. Ropes are 18 mm polyamide with a braided galvanised steel core, cut-resistant and UV-stable, assembled with aluminium and stainless steel connectors. Decorative elements are impact and weather resistant HPL panel. Foundations are high-strength concrete at 0.6 m depth. The full range is shown under Diamond Collection play structures.

Frequently asked questions
Can ORDOS be added to a playground that is already surfaced?
Often, yes, provided the existing surface is tested for at least 2.3 m of fall height and 6.0 by 5.6 m can be cleared of obstructions. We check the surfacing certificate before quoting rather than assuming it.
Is a tall structure on a small base stable?
Stability comes from the foundations and the rope tensioning, not from the width of the base. The 0.6 m concrete foundations and the tensioned net triangulate the posts against each other.
How many children can climb it at once?
Fewer than on a wide structure — typically a handful. ORDOS is a challenge item rather than a capacity item, and it is usually specified alongside something larger rather than instead of it.
Send us the clear area you have and your surfacing certificate, and we will confirm whether ORDOS fits and return a costed proposal within 24 business hours.
