Description
MAYE is a multi-activity rope structure on four steel arches that mixes climbing, balance and quiet space in a 5.8 x 5.8 m square. Its 3 to 14 age rating and its rubber matting house make it a common choice for school grounds and public parks that need one structure to serve a broad age spread.
Three kinds of play in one footprint
The observation platform and varied-grip climbing ropes cover the physical side. The balance beams and sensory panels address coordination and, for younger or less confident users, give something to do at ground level. The rubber matting house with windows is the third element: an enclosed, quieter space that children use to regroup, which matters in settings where a playground is also a social space. Swing-type suspended seats complete the mix.
Components
- Four steel arches, 139.7 mm diameter.
- Observation platform.
- Rope nets and climbing ropes with varied grips.
- Rubber matting house with windows.
- Balance beams and sensory panels.
- Swing-type suspended seats.
Construction
Black steel structure, hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated. Ropes are braided and bonded polyamide, 18 mm diameter. Connectors are aluminium, stainless steel and high-strength plastic, on concrete pad footings. Installation requires access for lifting plant.
Siting and surfacing
MAYE occupies 5.8 x 5.8 m, stands 4.7 m tall and requires a minimum safety area of 9.0 x 9.0 m, with foundations at 1.0 m depth. The free height of fall is 2.9 m. The equipment is certified to EN 1176-1:2017-12 by an independent certification body. Surfacing is governed separately by EN 1177 and must be rated for a critical fall height of at least 2.9 m across the whole 81 m2 safety area. MAYE also appears as a component within our complex playground configurations.

Frequently asked questions
Is MAYE suitable from age three?
It is certified from 3 to 14 years. The ground-level balance beams and sensory panels are what serve the youngest users; the upper climbing routes are for older children and should be supervised accordingly.
What do the sensory panels do?
They present tactile and manipulative tasks at low level — useful in inclusive settings where not every user will climb. They are fixed panels with no moving mechanism.
How much surfacing is required?
9.0 x 9.0 m, or 81 m2, rated to EN 1177 for a 2.9 m critical fall height. The siting drawing issued with the quotation sets out the exact boundary for the surfacing contractor.
