Description
JUNO XL is a rope crossing module made of two horizontal ropes tensioned between two posts spaced 4.24 m apart, with the lower rope adjustable in height from 0.4 to 1.25 m. The child walks the lower rope and steadies on the upper one, so the module trains balance and coordination with no moving parts to maintain.
The adjustment range is what makes the module usable across an age group. Set low, the crossing is accessible to a five year old; raised towards 1.25 m it becomes a genuine balance exercise for an older child. The spacing between the two ropes is likewise set between 1.4 and 1.8 m at installation, which tunes how much support the hands give.
The posts are hot dip galvanised steel of 168.3 mm diameter with a galvanised and powder coated cap. The ropes are braided and bonded polyamide of 18 mm diameter with a six strand galvanised steel wire core. Clamps are structural steel protected by chlorinated rubber paint, the articulated connections are stainless steel, and the link elements are aluminium and plastic. Foundations are reinforced concrete pads.

Using single modules to build a play area
Single rope modules are how a play area grows in stages. A municipality installs two or three modules along a path, then adds more in a later budget year without redesigning the whole area. The narrow 4.6 by 0.3 m footprint suits a linear layout beside a walkway, provided the 5.3 by 9.6 m impact area stays clear.
The receiving area must be covered with an impact attenuating surface complying with EN 1176-1, rated for a free height of fall of 2.85 m. Heavy plant access is required for the foundation work.
Frequently asked questions
Can the rope height be changed after installation?
The lower rope is adjustable between 0.4 and 1.25 m, so the difficulty can be matched to the age group using the play area.
What surfacing is required?
An impact attenuating surface over the 5.3 by 9.6 m safety area, rated for a 2.85 m free height of fall.
Is a certificate of conformity supplied?
Yes. The module holds a certificate of conformity to EN 1176-1:2017 issued by an independent certification body, and the technical file and implantation drawing are available on request.
