Description
MAJA XL extends the V-section walkway to a 4.24 m span, with six V ropes held apart by three hot-dip galvanised spacers. The additional spacer keeps the walking section open over the longer distance.
Span, spacers and stability
A suspended walkway becomes progressively less stable as it gets longer, and the answer is not more tension but more spacers. Three of them across 4.24 m keep the V from closing under load at mid-span, which is the failure of comfort that makes children step off a long rope bridge. The crossing stays lively without becoming unmanageable.
- Three horizontal ropes tensioned between the posts
- Six V-shaped ropes
- Three hot-dip galvanised steel spacers
- Stainless steel connections

A wider safety area than most modules
Unlike the flat two-post modules, MAJA XL requires 6.5 m of width rather than 5.3 m, because the walkway swings laterally over the longer span. That extra 1.2 m of surfaced width has to be allowed for at layout stage; it is the most common reason a trail drawing has to be revised late.
Installation and surfacing
Reinforced concrete footings at 1.0 m, heavy plant access required, and impact attenuating surfacing to EN 1176-1 over the full 6.5 x 9.6 m area against a free height of fall of 2.85 m.
Who it suits
The wide-span V walkway is a common specification for campsites, holiday villages and school grounds where a single crossing has to serve children of very different ages through a long season. The contained walking section means staff are not called on to help nervous users across, which matters where supervision is light.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the safety area wider than on the standard MAJA?
The longer suspended section moves further sideways when loaded, and the certified safety area accounts for that movement.
Can it be installed alongside a footpath?
Only outside the 6.5 m width. Paths and benches must be kept clear of the whole safety area.
Do the spacers need adjustment over time?
They are fixed components. Their attachment and coating condition are checked at inspection, but they are not user-adjustable.
Send us the width as well as the length of your strip and we will confirm the fit. Request a quotation or browse the rope play modules.
