Description
HARMANDA is shaped by its plan, not by its height. At 12.5 by 8.0 m it stretches along a line rather than clustering around a centre, which makes it the structure to reach for when the available ground is a strip: the edge of a park, the length of a school boundary, the corridor between a car park and a building entrance. Children move along it rather than up it, and with a free height of fall of only 1.0 m it opens rope play to the youngest users on a site.
A linear route rather than a tower
- Climbing nets run the full length of the structure, so children travel horizontally and the play spreads out instead of queueing at one entry point.
- Staggered raised platforms give resting points and changes of level along the route.
- A secure access point designed for young children, which is what allows the 0 to 14 age range.
- Free height of fall of just 1.0 m across a 12.5 m structure: unusual for rope play, and the reason the surfacing specification stays modest despite the size.
Materials and construction
Structural posts are stainless steel. The ropes are 18 mm polyamide with a braided galvanised steel core, cut-resistant and UV-stable, assembled with aluminium and stainless steel connectors. Decorative elements are HPL panel, weather and impact resistant. The whole structure sits on high-strength concrete foundations, 0.6 m deep.
Siting and safety area
The minimum impact area is 15.3 by 10.5 m. Because the structure is linear, that area is a corridor rather than a square, which is exactly what makes HARMANDA fit sites that a compact structure of the same play value would not. It belongs to our Diamond Collection play structures.

Frequently asked questions
Can HARMANDA really be used by children under three?
The age range is 0 to 14 because the access point and the lower levels are designed for small children, and because the free height of fall is limited to 1.0 m. As always, the youngest users need an accompanying adult; the structure makes that practical rather than assuming it.
Does the linear shape reduce capacity?
The opposite. A long structure has many simultaneous entry and exit points, so more children play at once and fewer wait. It also spreads noise and movement along a boundary instead of concentrating it in one spot.
Can the layout be adapted to a curved or interrupted strip?
The standard configuration is as specified, but the Diamond Collection is designed around a modular post-and-rope system. Send us your plan and we will tell you what can be adapted and what would become a bespoke structure.
Send us the length and width of the strip you have available, together with the surfacing in place, and we will return a costed proposal including foundations, installation with the required lifting equipment and the EN 1176 handover file.
