How to Equip, Budget, Install and Maintain a Professional Gym with Bodytone Equipment

by Michaël Galy / Friday, 04 July 2025 / Published in Espace Gérants & Investisseurs
Comment équiper, budgétiser, installer et entretenir une salle de sport professionnelle avec du matériel Bodytone pour garantir performance, sécurité et rentabilité

Whether you are opening an independent gym, fitting out a hotel fitness room or building a corporate wellness space, the equipment decision is a strategic one. Bodytone is an established name in professional fitness equipment, with a broad range of robust, high-performing and well-finished machines. But equipping a facility is more than picking machines: you also have to plan the budget, organise maintenance, train the staff and secure regulatory compliance. This guide walks through the whole sequence.

How to equip a gym with Bodytone equipment

The key steps

Analyse your audience. A general-purpose club needs a varied mix of cardio, strength and functional equipment. A specialised facility concentrates on its discipline, with more cross-training or indoor cycling stations.

Choose the equipment categories.

  • Cardio: treadmills, bikes, rowers, cross trainers. See the professional cardio range.
  • Guided strength: plate-loaded or selectorised machines. See strength training machines.
  • Free weights: dumbbells, benches, racks.
  • Functional training: cages and cross-training accessories.

Optimise the space. Plan circulation routes at the clear width required by the accessibility and fire regulations applicable to public venues in your country, and treat acoustics as part of the specification: rubber flooring under the equipment protects the building and the neighbours at the same time.

Design and colour. Bodytone machines can be customised in RAL colours, which matters when the gym has to match a hotel or a corporate interior.

Typical Bodytone fit-out for a 300 square metre facility

Zone Recommended Bodytone equipment
Cardio 4 treadmills, 3 bikes, 2 cross trainers
Guided strength 8 multi-muscle-group machines
Free weights Dumbbell rack 1 to 40 kg, benches
Cross training Cross-training cage, sled, battle ropes
Stretching Rubber tiles, mats

How to budget a Bodytone project

Where the money goes

Build the budget zone by zone rather than machine by machine. Cardio and guided strength carry most of the cost, free weights and functional equipment far less, and flooring is a line of its own that is almost always underestimated at first pass. Ask your supplier for unit pricing on the exact references quoted rather than working from generic price brackets: within a single category, entry-level and premium models differ by a factor that no bracket captures.

The other cost lines

  • Delivery and installation: usually 5 to 10 per cent of the quotation.
  • Staff training: an option, sometimes included depending on the purchase volume.
  • Annual maintenance: allow 2 to 5 per cent of the equipment value.

Indicative budget for 300 square metres

Line Approximate cost
Cardio 30,000 EUR
Guided strength 45,000 EUR
Free weights 10,000 EUR
Functional training 12,000 EUR
Flooring and accessories 10,000 EUR
Estimated total 107,000 EUR excluding VAT

Volume discounts are often available above a certain equipment volume, which is one more reason to quote the whole project at once rather than in instalments.

Preventive maintenance for Bodytone machines

Preventive maintenance extends machine life, avoids expensive breakdowns, keeps users safe and prevents the service interruptions that cost you members. It is the cheapest insurance a facility can buy.

A workable schedule

  • Daily: clean upholstery, visual check of cables and fixings.
  • Monthly: inspect pulleys and bearings, lubricate slides and rails.
  • Quarterly: test every mechanical safety device, check belt and cable tension.
  • Annually: a full audit by an approved technician is recommended.

Indoor equipment placed in a facility open to the public is specified to class S of the EN ISO 20957 series, and the manufacturer instructions define the servicing regime that keeps that specification valid. Document each check: a maintenance log is what you produce if an incident is ever investigated.

Training your staff on the equipment

Trained staff means fewer accidents, better member support and a stronger perception of the club. Bodytone commonly offers sessions covering the technical presentation of the machines, safe use, adjustment by body type, and specific programmes for older users, rehabilitation or cross-training.

A training certificate can be issued, which is useful when a safety inspector or an insurer asks how staff were prepared. Put training into the quotation at the start of the project; on larger volumes it is often included.

How to check that a machine is CE compliant

What applies

  • EN ISO 20957-1, the general safety requirements for stationary training equipment, with class S for studio and commercial use.
  • Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, which requires CE marking on equipment placed on the European market.

What to look for

On the machine: a rating plate carrying the CE marking, the model designation and the serial number. In the documentation: an operating manual in the language of the country of installation, and the EC declaration of conformity. If either is missing, do not accept the delivery.

How to request a quotation

  1. Define the project: floor area in square metres, type of audience, indicative budget.
  2. List your needs: cardio, strength, cross-training, flooring.
  3. Contact an approved distributor and send the floor plan if you have one.
  4. Review the proposal: detailed equipment list, delivery and installation conditions, lead times.

The more precise your brief, the more accurate and the more negotiable the quotation.

How Bodytone handles warranties for professionals

The standard warranty is generally two years on parts for professional use, with extensions available up to five years on some ranges, and a longer cover on the steel structure, typically five to ten years. The conditions are the ones you would expect: regular servicing according to the manual, and normal use within the stated maximum loads. Spare parts availability is committed for ten years, which is the figure that really matters over the life of a floor.

Installing Bodytone equipment in a hotel

What makes hotels different

Space is tight, often 20 to 50 square metres, with limited ceiling height. The audience is mixed and largely inexperienced, so machines have to be intuitive with no supervision available. And noise is not negotiable: guest rooms are usually next door or above, which pushes the specification towards belt-driven machines and a proper acoustic floor.

Installation sequence

  1. Study the plan: doors, windows, air conditioning and the position of the technical services.
  2. Select compact equipment: upright bikes, a cross trainer, a compact rower.
  3. Specify the floor: rubber tiles to cut structure-borne noise. See the rubber gym flooring range.
  4. Have the equipment installed by a technician: precise levelling, and anchoring where the machine requires it.

Accessibility and safety in premises open to the public are set by national regulation; check the requirements applicable to your venue before fixing the layout.

Choosing equipment for a corporate fitness space

Corporate spaces are small but expected to look premium, sessions are short, and connected machines that track performance are increasingly the norm. Four criteria decide the selection: versatile equipment such as a cross trainer for impact-free cardio and a multi-station for floor efficiency; quiet operation, which in an office building means belt transmission; ease of use, with no complex adjustment; and a finish that matches the interior.

Corporate space Recommended equipment
Cardio EVOE2 bike, DT18 treadmill
Light strength G9X multi-station
Functional training Small cross-training cage

A screen running video sessions is a small investment that measurably increases use among employees.

Trust factors and legal obligations

  • Bodytone equipment is CE marked and built to the EN ISO 20957 series.
  • The manufacturer is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Professional after-sales support and project assistance are part of the offer.
  • Products comply with REACH, with no harmful substances.

For the free weight zone, a cage has to be anchored: see the Gold Line squat rack and power cage and the wider racks and cages range.

Frequently asked questions

Can Bodytone machines be colour customised?

Yes. RAL colour customisation is available on request, which is often decisive in hotel and corporate projects.

Are the machines warranted for intensive use?

Yes, the warranty covers professional use provided the machines are serviced regularly according to the manual.

Can a cage be installed without floor anchoring?

No. It must be anchored to comply with the safety requirements for the equipment.

What is the average lead time for a set of machines?

Around four to eight weeks depending on the volume and the level of customisation requested.

Does Bodytone provide technical training?

Yes, for staff and for maintenance, and it is often included in professional projects.

Conclusion

Equipping a gym or a fitness space with Bodytone equipment is a bet on build quality, robustness and safety. What turns that into profitability is the rest of the sequence: a budget built zone by zone, a documented maintenance schedule, trained staff, compliance evidence kept on file and a floor specified for the loads it will take. Send us your floor area, your audience and your plan, and we will return an equipment list, a layout and a costed proposal: request a quote.
