In short: a professional treadmill is specified on continuous motor power, running surface, cushioning and duty cycle, not on headline speed. In our catalogue, professional models run from 3,250.00 EUR excluding VAT to 11,248.70 EUR excluding VAT, and the difference between those two figures is almost entirely build quality, console and expected hours per day.
What a professional treadmill costs
Price follows motor power, frame strength, running surface, console technology and the number of hours per day the machine is designed to take. For a commercial buyer the useful segmentation is by duty cycle rather than by price bracket.
| Segment | Price, excluding VAT | Recommended use |
|---|---|---|
| Entry professional, including non-motorised curved belts | From 3,250.00 EUR excluding VAT | Clubs, hotel fitness rooms, functional and interval zones |
| High-end professional, touchscreen and biofeedback consoles | Up to 11,248.70 EUR excluding VAT | High-traffic gyms, performance and rehabilitation facilities |
Do not stop at the price. Look at the warranty terms, the expected service life and the certification, because those three define the cost per year rather than the cost on the invoice.
How to choose a treadmill for a professional facility
1. Start from the duty cycle
The question is not what the machine can do once, but how many hours a day it will run. A club floor with continuous use through the evening peak needs a different specification from a hotel room where sessions are short and spread through the day. Size the motor and the frame for the busiest hour you expect, not the average.
2. The technical criteria that matter
Motor power, expressed in CHP (continuous horsepower), is the figure to compare. Three CHP minimum is recommended for running. Add half a horsepower where users above 90 kg are a significant part of your membership.
Maximum speed. Professional models reach up to 22 km/h, which covers sprint intervals and athletic preparation.
Incline from 0 to 15 percent, motorised, so that gradient work can be programmed rather than improvised.
Cushioning is what protects knees and ankles: a good deck reduces impact by 20 to 40 percent compared with running on asphalt, which is the argument that keeps older and returning members on the machine.
Running surface: 45 x 140 cm minimum for walking, 50 x 150 cm for comfortable running. In a facility serving a mixed population, specify the larger surface.
Maximum user weight: choose a machine rated at least 20 kg above the heaviest user you expect.
3. Practical options
Connectivity through Bluetooth, interactive applications and compatibility with heart rate monitors is now expected rather than exceptional. On the safety side, check for an emergency stop key, wide side platforms and a stable frame.
Certification: what to ask for
Any treadmill installed in a commercial facility must carry CE marking and be built and certified to EN ISO 20957-1 class S, the studio class for supervised professional use. Ask for the certificate by that reference and keep it with the handover file: it is the document an insurer or an inspection will want to see. Our professional treadmills are supplied on that basis.
Why a treadmill earns its floor space
It remains the most used single machine on most cardio floors, for reasons that are practical rather than fashionable. It improves cardiovascular endurance, it burns between 400 and 700 kcal per hour depending on intensity, it is available whatever the weather, and it removes the fall and traffic risk of running outdoors. It also covers walking, jogging and sprinting on the same frame, which makes it usable in rehabilitation programmes as well as in athletic preparation. World Health Organization guidance recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week, and a treadmill is one of the simplest ways for a facility to make that achievable indoors.
Durability and maintenance
A well maintained professional treadmill has a service life of roughly 7 to 12 years depending on use and upkeep. A multi-ply belt lasts longer than a single-ply one, and automatic lubrication removes the maintenance task most often forgotten. Warranty cover varies by range, so check what is covered on the motor and on the frame specifically, and for how long, before comparing two quotations.
Comparing models
Two machines at the same price can be built for very different duty cycles. Our professional treadmill comparison sets the ranges side by side, and the rest of the cardio equipment catalogue shows what a balanced cardio zone looks like around them.
Frequently asked questions
What does a professional treadmill cost?
In our catalogue, from 3,250.00 EUR excluding VAT to 11,248.70 EUR excluding VAT. The spread reflects motor power, frame construction, console and the hours per day the machine is designed to run.
How long does a treadmill last?
Between 7 and 12 years depending on use and maintenance. Belt quality and regular lubrication are the two factors that move that number most.
How many calories does running on a treadmill burn?
Around 600 kcal per hour at moderate running intensity, within a range of roughly 400 to 700 kcal per hour depending on effort.
What is the difference between a professional and a lighter machine?
The professional machine is designed to run several hours a day, with a more powerful motor, a stronger frame and a longer service life. That is what EN ISO 20957-1 class S certification covers.
What certification should I ask for?
CE marking and EN ISO 20957-1 class S. Ask for the document rather than the claim.
