Build and adjustment

The uprights are 11-gauge steel, 75 x 75 mm in section with a 3 mm wall, laser cut with numbered holes at 50 mm spacing so a user can find a repeatable setting and a coach can prescribe one. Hardware is 24 mm zinc-plated. The finish is a powder coating resistant to scratching and rust, which is the specification that determines how a rack looks after three years in a room where loaded bars are dropped into the J-cups.

The storage arms detach, which matters for two reasons: cleaning behind them, and reconfiguring the height of the arms as the plate stock changes.

Half rack, and why that is often the right answer

A full power cage encloses the lifter on four uprights and takes the floor area to match. A half rack gives the same safety function through the spotter arms while leaving three sides open, which makes it faster to enter and leave, easier to supervise, and suitable for a room where a cage would dominate the space. At 127 x 160 cm the XP occupies about half the footprint of a comparable cage.

Does it have to be bolted to the floor?

We recommend it, and the frame is designed for it. Pull-up use applies horizontal force at the top of the uprights, and a bar racked hard into the J-cups applies an eccentric load. Anchoring into a concrete slab, through a lifting platform where one is fitted, is standard on commercial installations.

How much ceiling height is needed?

The rack is 237 cm tall and the pull-up bar sits near the top, so allow at least 270 to 280 cm of clear ceiling for a user to hang and pull without striking anything. Check this before ordering, particularly in basement rooms.

What does 11-gauge steel mean in practice?

Approximately 3 mm wall thickness, which is the commercial-duty standard for rack uprights. Lighter racks use 14 or 12 gauge and are dimensioned for home use; the difference shows up in deflection under a heavy rack-out, not in the first year of service.
