What floor mounting buys you

A free standing rack relies on its own mass and base geometry to stay put. A floor mounted rack transfers the load into the slab, which allows a narrower footprint for the same stability and removes the tipping risk when a heavy bar is racked off centre or when a member kips on the pull up bar. The trade off is permanence: the position has to be right before the anchors go in, and the slab has to be sound enough to take them, which is worth confirming before delivery in a converted or upper floor space.

Ceiling height, layout and inspection

At 253 cm the XP2 is taller than a typical power rack, so check the clear ceiling height before ordering: allow at least 290 to 300 cm if members will use the pull up bar, more again for a hanging punch bag. Reserve a working zone of roughly 3 x 3 m around the station for bar walk out and plate handling, and place a rubber tile area at least 30 mm thick beneath the lifting zone.

Because the shelves double as plate storage, the anchored structure carries a permanent static load in addition to the training load. Include the anchor bolts, the J cup liners and the safety arm pins in the routine safety walk, and re torque the base fixings during the first months of use, when impact loading beds them in.
