Description
The TRAINER R30 parallel bars are a freestanding outdoor dip and bodyweight station measuring 185.6 x 55 x 153 cm for a unit weight of around 50 kg, needing a safety zone of 486 x 355 cm. Rated difficulty is high. The station is certified to EN 16630:2015-06 and tested by TUV Rheinland, and is supplied by Light In Fitness at 1,146 EUR excluding VAT.
The apparatus that decides how serious an area looks
Parallel bars separate a general fitness trail from a calisthenics area. Everything the bars allow, dips, L-sits, supported holds, swing-throughs, tucked planches, is upper-body dominant and demands that the user carry their own weight through a full range. That is why the difficulty rating is high, and why the R30 tends to be the piece that regular street workout athletes go to first while casual users watch. In practice a set of parallel bars is what brings a self-organised training community onto a municipal site, and that community is what keeps the site occupied outside peak hours.
- Dips loading the triceps, pectorals and anterior deltoid
- Static holds and core work in support position
- Swing and transition work for advanced calisthenics
- Difficulty rated high, minimum user height 140 cm, maximum user weight 150 kg
- Freestanding: no pylon or rig required
Freestanding rather than rig-mounted
The R prefix marks a self-supporting station with its own ground anchors, which distinguishes the R30 from the SW-series parallel bars that mount on street workout posts. The freestanding version can be positioned anywhere on a plan and installed on its own, so it suits a fitness trail where apparatus are spaced along a route, or a first phase that may later grow into a full rig. Where the intent is a dense calisthenics cage with pull-up bars, wall bars and traverses sharing a common structure, the post-mounted references are the better specification and the cheaper one per station.
Siting, surfacing and inspection
At 153 cm bar height the free height of fall is higher than on seated apparatus, so impact-attenuating surfacing across the full 486 x 355 cm zone should be assumed in the budget rather than treated as an option. This is the item most often left out of a first cost estimate. Standard colours are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006).

Frequently asked questions
Is it usable by people who cannot yet do a dip?
Yes, with regressions. Support holds, negative dips and inverted rows under the bars are all accessible to a beginner and all use the same apparatus. The high difficulty rating reflects the reference exercise, not the range of what the bars allow. An instruction panel showing two or three progressions materially increases how much a site is used.
Should it be specified alongside a pull-up bar?
Almost always. Dips and pull-ups are the push and pull pair that a calisthenics area is built around, and installing one without the other produces a visibly unbalanced site. Where budget allows only one, the pull-up bar attracts more users; where both are possible, place them within a few metres of each other so a circuit is obvious.
Can the bar height be adjusted?
No. Open-access outdoor equipment carries no user-adjustable settings, for safety and vandalism reasons. The 153 cm height is set to suit the full adult range from 140 cm upwards, with taller users tucking the legs.
