Cube Maxi timber multi activity play structure

The Cube Maxi is a timber multi activity play structure measuring 3.08 by 5.69 metres and standing 3.37 metres high, certified to EN 1176-1:2017-12. It combines a stainless steel slide, a crawl tunnel, spider web climbing nets, rope bridges, sensory panels and a high observation platform in one unit for children aged 3 to 12. The structure is organised on several levels. Children reach the upper platforms by vertical nets or by the integrated staircase beside the slide, cross between levels on horizontal rope nets that act as floors, and descend by the stainless steel slide which starts at mid height. Underneath, the open space at ground level becomes a crawl and hide area, so the same footprint serves two very different kinds of play.

The sensory panels on the front and right hand faces carry wheels, dials and movable geometric shapes, which extends the structure to younger children and to quieter play alongside the climbing.

At 3.37 metres of structure height, this is a full scale playground unit rather than a garden item, and the site preparation follows EN 1176. Impact attenuating surfacing is required under and around the equipment, specified under EN 1177 to the free fall height of the highest accessible platform, with the falling space extending beyond the 3.08 by 5.69 metre footprint on every side.

The upper cube is enclosed with transparent polycarbonate panels, which keeps the observation platform visually open while preventing falls, and this matters when the site is supervised by one adult covering a whole yard. The unit can be installed on its own or combined with other equipment such as climbing nets, forest play sets or spring riders, so a phased playground can be built over successive budget years.
