Description
The Construction Truck is a themed climbing and swinging structure on a hot dip galvanised steel frame, with a stainless steel slide one metre wide and rubber platforms. Its yellow and black livery reads as a works vehicle from a distance, which is what makes it useful as the identifying feature of a small play area.
Play content is spread over the length of the vehicle: children climb, swing, hang and slide rather than queue for a single activity. The rubber platforms give a non slip standing surface that stays usable in the wet. The cable network is braided polyamide of 18 mm diameter, fixed to the steel frame with stainless steel rings and tensioned with hot dip galvanised turnbuckles, so tension can be reset at inspection instead of the net being replaced.
Decorative elements are weather resistant HPL panels, and the glazing is transparent polycarbonate, which keeps the cab visible from outside while resisting impact.

Specifying the truck for a public site
A wide slide changes the way a play area flows. At one metre the deck takes two children side by side or an adult accompanying a small child, which reduces the pressure at the top of the slide and suits nurseries, campsites and family leisure sites.
Playground equipment installed permanently in a public space is designed and inspected under EN 1176, and the impact attenuating surfacing under EN 1177. The slide exit and the highest accessible platform determine the free height of fall, and the surfacing must be tested to at least that critical fall height. The footprint, the safety area and the foundation setting out are issued on the implantation drawing prepared for your plot.
Frequently asked questions
What space does the structure need?
Overall dimensions and the impact area are confirmed in the implantation study, since the orientation of the slide governs the area to be surfaced. Send a site plan with your quotation request.
Why a stainless steel slide?
Stainless steel does not fade under ultraviolet exposure, resists vandalism and can be cleaned without losing its surface, which is why it is normally specified for unsupervised public play areas.
Can the cable tension be adjusted?
Yes. The cables are tensioned by hot dip galvanised turnbuckles designed for adjustment, and tension is one of the checks in the periodic inspection required by EN 1176.
