Description
The Fir Trees playground disguises two 6.8 m steel play towers as a pair of conifers, clad in 10 mm HPL panels printed with fir-tree decor. Behind the woodland styling is a serious piece of engineering: square 120 x 120 mm steel tube cores, hot-dip galvanised and powder coated, connected by a suspended rope tunnel 3.5 m above the ground.
Inside the towers
- Two full floors and three half-floors per tower, linked by ropes so children move vertically through the trees
- Four transparent polycarbonate windows per structure, decorated with printed animals, letting in daylight while keeping users safe
- A 5.0 m suspended rope tunnel with a 1.9 x 1.0 m cross-section connecting the two towers at 3.5 m height
- Two distinct entrances: a steel cable arch and an inclined trapezoidal cable truss
Rope specification
All nets use braided, bonded polyamide rope reinforced with galvanised steel strings, 18 mm in diameter. Rope connectors are high-quality plastic and aluminium, chosen for durability and smooth handling — no sharp or protruding elements within children’s reach.
