Description
The Premium 42 mm CFL fire-rated rubber tile is the only thick tile of the catalogue to combine a CFL reaction-to-fire classification (EN 13501-1) with drop-proof 42 mm absorption: the single-reference answer for public-access facilities whose fire notice prescribes CFL in free-weight and Olympic lifting zones. Density 1,000 kg/m3, 27.5 kg per 100 x 100 cm tile, 5-year warranty. Price: 64.00 EUR excluding VAT per m2, with volume pricing on large surfaces.
The problem this tile solves
Fire commissions and barbell drops pull specifications in opposite directions. Thin CFL-rated tiles satisfy the fire notice but cannot take drops; 40 mm training tiles take drops but carry only the base Efl rating, unacceptable where a commission prescribes CFL. This tile resolves the conflict in one reference: 42 mm of very-high-density rubber for Olympic bar drops, and a CFL classification, one step above Dfl-S1 in the EN 13501-1 hierarchy, for the fire file. A technically identical twin rated Dfl-S1 exists in the catalogue at a lower price; the fire classification prescribed in your safety notice is the only variable that should decide between the two.
What the premium construction delivers
- 1,000 kg/m3 density, the highest of the thick-tile range: firmer under rack feet, longer life under daily drops, more controlled bar rebound
- 27.5 kg per tile, lighter than comparable 40 mm tiles despite the higher density, easing installation on large surfaces
- Medium-grain black finish, non-slip, indoor and outdoor use
- Impact-noise attenuation of 30 dB and more (delta-Lw, ISO 10140-3 type tests, ISO 717-2 rating), the level required for weightlifting and repeated drops
- Loose lay on large flat indoor surfaces; glued lay for small areas, edges and outdoor use
- 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects
Typical installations
- Commercial cross-training facilities open to the public, with drops across the whole floor
- Municipal sports halls integrating a free-weight zone under a demanding fire notice
- Health and rehabilitation establishments, where reinforced fire requirements meet fall-protection needs
- Premium commercial gyms securing periodic fire-safety inspections

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between CFL and CFL-S1?
CFL rates the flooring’s reaction to fire under EN 13501-1; the S1 suffix adds a separate requirement on smoke production. Some commissions prescribe CFL-S1 explicitly, others accept CFL alone: check the exact wording of your safety notice before ordering, and contact us if CFL-S1 is mandatory in drop zones.
When is the cheaper Dfl-S1 twin the better buy?
Whenever your commission accepts Dfl-S1: the Dfl-S1 version is mechanically identical, 42 mm, 1,000 kg/m3, 27.5 kg, and saves 4 EUR per m2, around 1,000 EUR on a 250 m2 project. Paying for CFL when the notice does not require it is avoidable over-specification; the reverse risks an unfavourable commission opinion.
Which document does the fire commission actually accept?
The official classification test report under EN 13501-1, not the product sheet. Light In Fitness supplies the report on request, with the quotation or the order, request it when assembling the file, not at inspection time.
How many tiles and what lead time?
One tile per m2 plus 5 to 7 percent for edge cuts. In-stock products ship within 24 to 48 hours and deliver in 3 to 7 working days in mainland France; mixed-zone projects get a layout plan and per-zone thickness map from our design office.
