Description
The Elastic Star interlocking sports tile — modified polypropylene, 34 × 34 cm, 1.55 cm thick — is a click-together sports surface laid loose on any flat, hard base. It is designed for multisport courts, school sports yards and municipal play areas that need a surface which can be dismantled, repaired tile by tile and customised with built-in line markings. Sold by the square metre at 30 EUR excluding VAT per m2, with volume discounts.
What a click-together tile changes for a municipality
The case for an interlocking tile is not the price per square metre — it is what becomes possible after installation.
- Unit repair. A damaged tile is replaced on its own, without touching its neighbours or reworking the surface.
- Reversibility. Loose laying means a zone can be lifted and relaid for work on the base, or the whole court relocated.
- Phased extension. A first phase can be enlarged later, provided the reference and colour remain available.
- Flexible connection. The joints absorb thermal expansion and contraction — something a glued surface cannot do.
- Drainage. The structure evacuates water through the tile, preventing surface pooling after rain.
Colours, line markings and customisation
Eight colours are available: black, light grey, dark grey, red, green, blue, orange and yellow. Game lines and logos are produced at no extra cost by combining tile colours rather than applying paint — a marking formed by the tile itself never wears off. Optional edge ramps and corners finish the perimeter of the area.
Intended uses
The tile is intended for floor-level sports practice: basketball courts, tennis courts, multisport pitches, roller-hockey rinks, school sports platforms and playgrounds. It suits indoor and outdoor use alike, provided the base is flat and hard — concrete, asphalt or screed.

What this tile is not
Better said before the order than after delivery. It is not an impact-attenuating playground surface: under equipment with a free fall height, the covering must be selected on impact attenuation performance in the sense of EN 1177, not on playing comfort. It requires a flat, hard base — laid on a deformed or soft support it reproduces the support’s defects. And no fire-reaction classification is declared for this reference: if your project is a public-access building subject to a classification requirement, ask for a reference backed by a test report, available in other ranges of the catalogue.
Frequently asked questions
How is a project priced?
The price is per square metre and decreases with quantity. For a quotation, state the surface in square metres, the nature of the existing base, the colours, the expected line markings and whether perimeter edging is required.
Can the surface be extended later?
Yes — that is one of the strengths of loose-laid interlocking tiles. A first phase can be enlarged in a later budget year, subject to continued availability of the reference and colour. This reference was installed for the town of Taverny and extended two years later.
Does it work outdoors?
Yes. The flexible connection absorbs thermal movement and the structure drains rainwater through the tile, so the surface remains playable shortly after rain.
