Description
The Dfl-s1 25 mm rubber gym tile is the only 25 mm fire-rated tile in the catalogue: a two-layer SBR and EPDM construction, 100 x 100 cm, sitting between 20 mm compliance tiles and 40 mm drop-zone tiles. Price: 45 EUR excluding VAT per m2.
The missing thickness for mixed-use public gyms
Fire-rated floors force a choice: 20 mm tiles satisfy the safety commission but cushion too little for free weights set down on the floor, while 40 mm drop-zone tiles are oversized — and overpriced — when nobody drops a barbell. The 25 mm Dfl-s1 resolves that dilemma for multi-purpose facilities open to the public: strength areas where dumbbells are set down (not dropped), circuit training and HIIT zones with light kettlebells, group classes and circulation. The extra 5 mm over a 20 mm tile buys roughly a quarter more cushioning for joints and floor slabs.
Two-layer SBR + EPDM construction
The tile pairs a recycled SBR body at 900 kg/m3 — the high-density mass that absorbs impact and stabilises the tile — with an EPDM wear layer on the surface. EPDM is a synthetic rubber that resists UV, ozone and abrasion better than plain SBR, so the surface ages well under intensive commercial traffic and in daylight-exposed rooms. Finish is a black medium grain, slip-resistant; installation is loose-lay or glued, indoors or outdoors; maintenance needs only a vacuum, mop and neutral detergent. Manufacturing defects are covered for 5 years.
Where it fits — and where it does not
Choose the 25 mm when a public-access gym combines cardio, machines and controlled free-weight work and comfort matters. It is not dimensioned for loaded barbell drops: for Olympic lifting platforms, specify 40 mm tiles locally and keep the 25 mm across the rest of the floor.

Frequently asked questions
Is Dfl-s1 sufficient for my building?
Dfl-s1 covers standard public-access prescriptions; high-traffic or sensitive establishments may be prescribed Cfl-s1 or Bfl-s1. The safety commission or inspection body decides — have them validate the datasheet before ordering, and we will propose the matching class if needed.
What does the EPDM layer change in practice?
Surface longevity. EPDM resists abrasion and UV better than plain SBR, so grain and colour hold up under years of commercial footfall and in rooms with strong natural light.
Can I mix thicknesses across one floor?
Yes — the standard layout runs 25 mm across the training floor with 40 mm islands under lifting platforms, using transition ramps at junctions. We plan the zoning as part of the quote.
