Description
This 42 mm recycled SBR rubber tile of 100 x 100 cm is dimensioned for drop zones and carries a Dfl-S1 fire classification to EN 13501-1. Thickness and fire behaviour are the two reasons it is specified: it takes dropped loads in a weightlifting area, and its classification opens projects that a standard Efl tile cannot serve.
The finish is a medium black granulate. The tile is non slip, can be laid loose or bonded, and is suitable indoors and outdoors. Maintenance is a vacuum then a mop with neutral detergent. The warranty is five years against manufacturing defects.
The S1 suffix in the classification refers to smoke production, and Dfl to the reaction to fire of the flooring. For a public building project in France subject to ERP rules, or for a public tender, request the fire test report in advance: it is issued on demand and is usually required as part of the submission rather than after the order.

Specifying a drop zone
A weightlifting area is not floored to the same specification as the rest of the room. Under a platform or a rack where loaded barbells are dropped, the floor has to absorb the impact, protect the slab and contain the noise transmitted into the structure, and that is a question of thickness and density rather than of surface finish.
The usual approach is a 42 mm tile in the drop zones and a thinner tile across the rest of the floor, with the transition falling at a rack line so that the change in level is not in a walking route. We size the zones on your plan at quotation stage.
Frequently asked questions
Is the fire test report supplied?
It is issued on request. Ask for it before submitting a public tender or an ERP file, since it is normally required with the submission.
Should the whole floor be 42 mm?
Rarely. Thickness is concentrated where loads are dropped; elsewhere a thinner tile is sufficient and less costly.
Is the tile suitable outdoors?
Yes, indoor and outdoor use are both covered, loose laid or bonded depending on the substrate.
