Description
METIS XL combines a main rope at 2.65 m to 2.85 m with three half-circle arches and a net of nine horizontal and six vertical ropes, over a post spacing of 4.24 m. Two vertical ropes anchored to the ground hold the assembly in its designed shape.
A module that behaves like three
With three arches and a denser net, METIS XL offers a traverse along the top, a climb through the mesh and a hanging route underneath. Children move between the three without leaving the module, which is why it is often the piece that ends up defining a rope trail rather than simply belonging to it. The approximately 0.3 x 0.3 m mesh is fine enough to be climbed by feet as well as hands.

- Three half-circle arches, radius approximately 0.3 m
- Net of nine horizontal and six vertical ropes, mesh approximately 0.3 x 0.3 m

Choosing it as a single-module scheme
Where a client can install only one rope module, the combined types give the widest range of movement for a single surfaced area. METIS XL asks for 5.3 x 9.6 m of impact attenuating surface to EN 1176-1, roughly 51 square metres, and in return supports climbing, traversing and hanging.
Maintenance
The denser the net, the more crossing points there are to inspect. Sheath abrasion at the intersections and the condition of the ground anchors are the two recurring items, recorded under the routine, operational and annual regime required by EN 1176.
Frequently asked questions
How many children can use it at once?
Several, distributed between the net and the traverse. Loading the module at multiple points changes how it moves, which is part of the play value and is accounted for in the certification.
Does it need more foundation work than a simple crossing?
No. It uses the same two posts on 1.0 m reinforced concrete footings, plus the ground anchors for the vertical ropes.
Can the net be specified with a different mesh?
No. The configuration is certified as built, and opening sizes are part of that assessment.
