Description
The 40 mm CrossFit rubber tile is dimensioned for the one constraint classic gym flooring cannot handle: repeated loaded barbell drops. High-density recycled SBR, 100 x 100 cm, fine-grain black surface, for private boxes and functional training floors. Price: 38.50 EUR excluding VAT per m2.
Built around the barbell drop
A cross-training session loads the floor in a way bodybuilding never does: cleans, snatches and overhead work end in drops of a loaded barbell — several times a set, all day on the same zone. The 40 mm of high-density SBR absorbs the bulk of that impact energy for standard drops up to around 150 kg, protects the concrete slab from cumulative micro-cracking, and kills the uncontrolled rebound of the bar after the drop. Below 40 mm, daily intensive drop work transmits significant energy into the structure.
Comfort on the floor, stability under the rack
Functional athletes spend much of the session on the ground — burpees, planks, Turkish get-ups — and the 40 mm cushions elbows, knees and hips through that volume without becoming so soft that squatting or receiving a bar feels unstable. The high density also means rack feet, J-cups and bench legs do not sink in, and the fine-grain surface balances foot grip with enough glide for sled and prowler passes.
Where it can — and cannot — be installed
The tile is fire-classified Efl under EN 13501-1: suitable for private boxes, home gyms and internal-use training floors, but not for buildings open to the public, which require a rated tile. Installation is loose-lay — the tile mass keeps it in place — or glued for maximum stability; use is indoor and outdoor, with maintenance limited to vacuum, damp mop and neutral detergent.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need 40 mm across the whole floor?
Not necessarily. Many boxes run 40 mm over lifting and WOD zones and thinner tiles under cardio and circulation, joined with transition ramps. We plan the zoning with you at quote stage.
What about a commercial box open to the public?
This Efl tile is not compliant there. Fire-rated 40 mm equivalents exist in the catalogue for buildings where the safety commission prescribes Dfl-s1 or higher.
Does 40 mm replace dedicated lifting platforms?
For standard cross-training drops, yes. For competition-style repeated maximal drops, combine the tiles with platform inserts — we advise per project.
