Iso-lateral and converging: what each part does

Iso-lateral means the two arms are mechanically independent, so the stronger side cannot compensate for the weaker one. Converging means the handles travel inwards as the arms extend, which brings the pectorals to a full contraction at the end of the press. A straight barbell can do neither: it locks the hands to a fixed spacing and lets the dominant side carry the load.

Frame and upholstery

The chassis is 3 mm carbon steel in 100 x 50 mm and 75 x 50 mm sections, robot welded and reinforced with 8 to 10 mm plates and 8 mm calibrated steel bushings. Padding is 60 mm thick at a density of 160 kg per cubic metre, covered in pebbled leather. The EVA foam carries an antibacterial finish that repels perspiration, which keeps cleaning quick and extends the life of the covering on a floor in continuous use.
