The Bodytone EB02 Scott Bench dedicates a station to the strictest biceps exercise in existence: the preacher curl. Named after Larry Scott, the movement fixes the upper arms on an angled desk so the biceps — and nothing else — lifts the load. For commercial gyms, that means members finally curl with technique the equipment itself enforces.

The preacher desk that removes the cheat

Bodytone’s recommended execution maps directly onto the bench’s adjustments: set the numbered seat height so the elbows sit level on the desk, back straight, a dumbbell in each hand with palms up, arms extended — then flex both forearms simultaneously, bringing the weights to shoulder height. Because the desk blocks elbow drift and body swing, heavy sets stay honest; keeping the back straight under load is the one discipline left to the user.

Why is the preacher curl stricter than a standing curl?

The desk fixes the upper arm in front of the body, eliminating shoulder swing and momentum — every degree of flexion comes from the biceps alone.
