Best CrossFit Rigs to Buy Online: the 2026 Comparison

by Michaël Galy / Sunday, 11 January 2026 / Published in Comparatifs, Crossfit / Rigs, Guides Acheteurs
Meilleures cages de CrossFit à acheter en ligne en France - Le comparatif 2026

The rise of functional training, CrossFit, Hyrox and street workout, has flooded the internet with rigs and cages. Between a rack built for a spare room and a structure designed to carry ten athletes at once, the buying criteria have almost nothing in common. This comparison sets out what separates the categories on the market in 2026, and what a professional buyer should verify before placing an order online.

Three categories of supplier, not three brands

1. Specialist professional manufacturers

This is where made-to-measure sits. Light In Fitness designs freestanding and wall-mounted structures built for the most intensive sessions, kipping pull-ups and synchronised muscle-ups included, and configures them to the room rather than the other way round.

  • Why it matters: French design, heavy-gauge steel from 3 mm upwards, and a structure drawn around your floor plan, your ceiling height and your intended number of stations.
  • Typical configuration: a freestanding multi-bay rig used as the centre of a box, combining pull-up bars, squat stations, dip attachments and storage.

2. International premium brands

Rogue Fitness remains the reference point of the category and is known for its finish quality and its ecosystem of proprietary accessories. The practical caveats for a buyer outside the United States are shipping cost and lead time, which vary considerably by market, and the fact that accessories are largely brand-specific.

3. Marketplace budget brands

Structures sold through general marketplaces are cheaper for a reason: lighter uprights, thinner steel, a standard paint finish instead of a real coating system, and no meaningful modularity. They can be adequate in a private setting. They are the wrong tool for a facility where dozens of people train every day.

Technical comparison

Characteristic Specialist professional International premium Marketplace budget
Upright section 75×75 mm or 80×80 mm 3×3 inches (76×76 mm) 50×50 mm or 60×60 mm
Steel thickness 3 mm to 4 mm 3 mm 1.5 mm to 2 mm
Outdoor treatment Hot-dip galvanising available Powder coating Standard paint
Modularity Complete, made to measure High, proprietary accessories Low, fixed configuration

The two rows that decide durability are the first two. An upright of 75×75 mm in 3 mm steel and one of 50×50 mm in 1.5 mm steel do not belong to the same product category, whatever the photographs suggest.

Buying guide: three checks before you order

  1. Anchoring and stability. In professional use a rig should be fixed to the slab, normally with chemical anchors. If the floor cannot be drilled, verify that the manufacturer offers a genuine freestanding version with a widened base designed to be stable without fixing, rather than the same structure sold without anchors.
  2. Expandability. The rig has to grow with the community using it. Check that additional bays and accessories, J-cups, safety arms, dip attachments, wall ball targets, are available and compatible with the frame you are buying, not with next year’s revision of it.
  3. Safety compliance. A rig in a facility open to the public must meet the applicable European safety requirements: protection of pinch and shear points, and resistance to dynamic loads. Indoor training equipment for shared professional use is covered by EN ISO 20957-1 class S. If the structure is installed outdoors in a freely accessible public area, the applicable standard is EN 16630 instead, with permanent anchoring into specified foundations.

Which format for which room

Freestanding rigs are the default in a box: they can be placed away from walls, worked on from both sides and extended in either direction. See the freestanding rig range.

Wall-mounted rigs recover floor area in a narrow room and are the usual answer in hotel, corporate and school facilities. See wall-mounted rigs.

The complete catalogue, including competition and Hyrox configurations, is grouped under CrossFit and Hyrox cages.

Frequently asked questions

How much space does a CrossFit rig need?

For a standard wall-mounted cage, allow a clearance of at least 1 m to 1.20 m from the wall so that gymnastic movements and swinging are possible. The ideal ceiling height is 3.50 m for muscle-ups.

Can a rig be assembled in-house?

Yes. Most professional suppliers deliver with detailed instructions and all the fixings. For structures beyond four stations, an assembly team is recommended, because squareness across a long rig is what determines whether the bars sit level and the accessories fit.

Can a CrossFit rig be installed outdoors?

Only if the steel has been hot-dip galvanised. Without it, rust appears within months. Outdoor and street workout configurations are specified differently from indoor rigs, in materials and in anchoring.

What load can a professional rig take?

Load capacity depends on the section, the steel thickness, the anchoring and the configuration, so it is stated per structure in its technical documentation rather than as a single figure for a range.

Choosing your structure

The most efficient way to compare rigs is not to compare catalogues but to send the room: floor area, ceiling height, whether the slab can be drilled, the number of athletes to be handled at once and the movements you want to programme. We will come back with a configuration and a costed proposal: request a quote.
