Umbriel Rope Spider - Four-Metre Climbing Net Pyramid

In brief — Umbriel Rope Spider: dimensions 420 × 420 × 400 cm, free fall height 0,95 m, age range 3 to 14 years, safety area 7,2 m × 7,2 m, standards EN 1176-1, certification certificate of conformity from an independent certification body, price on quotation.

The Umbriel is the summit of our rope spider range – literally. Culminating at 4.0 metres around a heavily reinforced central mast, it offers an exceptional volume of climbing net that turns any large public or school playground into a destination. From across the park, its silhouette announces one thing: this is where the climbing happens.

Maximum volume, measured risk

The enveloping net geometry keeps the certified free fall height at just 0.95 m despite the four-metre summit, because climbers are always surrounded by mesh rather than exposed on an open face. Dozens of children can occupy the web at once, each finding a route matched to their confidence – from the wide lower rings to the airy top.

• Central mast in hot-dip galvanised steel, reinforced 159 mm diameter
• Four main cables anchored with adjustable hot-dip galvanised tensioners
• Braided rope net with numerous climbing holds
• Recommended age range: 3 to 14 years
• Free fall height: 0.95 m – minimum safety zone 7.2 x 7.2 m
• Reinforced concrete anchor footings

Engineered for the largest model in the range

The 159 mm mast – the heaviest section in the series – carries the net loads of the 4.2 m square structure. Mast and tensioners are hot-dip galvanised steel; the 16 mm rope is polypropylene (PP split film) reinforced with galvanised steel strands, with plastic and aluminium connectors. The structure is certified compliant with the European EN 1176 standard by an independent certification body, and the landing surface must itself comply with EN 1176-1.

Frequently asked questions

What surfacing must accompany the Umbriel?

The landing surface across the 7.2 x 7.2 m safety zone must comply with EN 1176-1 for the 0.95 m free fall height. We can supply and install a compliant surface as part of the project.

Is the Umbriel suitable for schools?

Yes – it is explicitly designed for large public and school playgrounds, where its capacity absorbs break-time crowds and its 3-14 age range covers the full primary and lower-secondary span.

How does it differ from the Japet?

The Umbriel adds half a metre of height, a wider 4.2 m base and a heavier 159 mm mast; choose it when the playground calls for the most imposing climbing feature in the range.
