Description
Some playgrounds need a summit worth conquering. The Japet rope spider rises 3.5 metres around a reinforced central mast, its braided net offering a sustained climb that keeps the most intrepid children coming back until they reach the top – and then racing each other to do it faster.
An ambitious challenge, an engineered safety margin
Despite its height, the Japet keeps a certified free fall height of just 1.0 m, because the enveloping net geometry means climbers are always surrounded by mesh. The result is rare in playground design: an equipment that looks and feels like a serious challenge to a ten-year-old while staying within modest surfacing requirements.
- Central mast in hot-dip galvanised steel, reinforced 133 mm diameter
- Four main cables anchored with adjustable hot-dip galvanised tensioners
- Braided rope net with numerous climbing holds
- Recommended age range: 3 to 14 years
- Free fall height: 1.0 m – minimum safety zone 6.7 x 6.7 m
- Reinforced concrete anchor footings
Heavier mast, same proven materials
The 133 mm mast diameter – upsized from the smaller Neso and Dione models – carries the additional net loads of the taller structure. Mast and tensioners are hot-dip galvanised; the 16 mm rope is polypropylene (PP split film) reinforced with galvanised steel strands, with plastic and aluminium connectors. The structure is certified compliant with the European EN 1176 standard by an independent certification body.

Frequently asked questions
Who is the Japet aimed at?
Playgrounds that want a visible climbing landmark for older children (up to 14) without moving to the footprint and cost of the 4-metre Umbriel, the largest model in the range.
Does more height mean more maintenance?
No – maintenance is the same as the smaller models: periodic visual inspection and cable re-tensioning via the adjustable galvanised tensioners, in line with the EN 1176 inspection regime.
Can several rope spiders be combined?
Absolutely. Pairing the Japet with a low structure such as the Hermippe dome creates a progressive climbing zone serving every age within the 3-14 band.
