Description
The Febe rope spider replaces the classic climbing frame with a single elegant gesture: a steel arch spanned by rope nets stretched down to the ground. The result is a sculptural climbing feature that catches the eye across a park while offering children aged 3 to 14 a generous, three-dimensional volume of play.
A sculptural arch with real climbing value
The nets are tensioned between the arch and the ground anchors, and tension is adjustable via hot-dip galvanised turnbuckles – so the climbing surface stays taut and responsive year after year. Because the net planes fan out from a single arch, children can traverse, ascend and hang across constantly changing angles, which develops balance and grip far more than a flat net panel.
- Arch in steel tube, 139.7 mm diameter
- Rope nets tensioned between arch and ground, adjustable by turnbuckles
- Recommended age range: 3 to 14 years
- Free fall height: 1.6 m – minimum safety zone 5.7 x 5.4 m
- Reinforced concrete footings
Carbon steel, galvanised for decades outdoors
The frame is S235 carbon steel, hot-dip galvanised for lasting corrosion protection. The 16 mm rope is polypropylene (PP split film) reinforced with galvanised steel strands, joined by plastic and aluminium connectors. The structure is certified compliant with the European EN 1176 standard by an independent certification body for collective use on public playgrounds.

Frequently asked questions
How much space does the Febe need?
The structure itself occupies just 3.9 x 2.5 m; plan a minimum safety zone of 5.7 x 5.4 m with surfacing appropriate to the 1.6 m free fall height – modest requirements that suit pocket parks and school grounds.
Do the nets need regular re-tensioning?
The galvanised turnbuckles make tension adjustment a quick maintenance task, typically checked during the periodic inspections already required by EN 1176 for public play equipment.
Can the Febe stand alone or should it be grouped?
It works both ways: as a standalone climbing feature in a small play area, or grouped with other rope spiders such as the low-level Pazyfea to build a progressive climbing zone.
