TRAINER D06R+WS - Wheelchair Accessible Outdoor Chest Press

The TRAINER D06R+WS is a pylon-mounted outdoor chest press designed to be used from a wheelchair, with no transfer to a seat. It measures 192 x 104.9 x 202 cm, weighs 45 kg plus a 50 kg pylon and needs a safety zone of 373 x 405 cm. Designed around the wheelchair, not adapted to it

Most outdoor gyms become inaccessible at the seat. The D06R+WS removes the seat entirely: the user rolls into the working position, brakes, and pushes the handles forward in a horizontal adduction movement. Approach clearance, handle height and grip spacing are set for a seated user, so the station works for a wheelchair user without an assistant and without any prior setup.

Muscles worked

The pressing movement loads the pectoral girdle, the anterior deltoid and the triceps, with the scapular stabilisers working to hold the trunk against the push. For wheelchair users this is the pushing half of the shoulder programme; the pulling half is covered by the reverse fly station of the same range, and councils normally install the two together so the shoulder is not trained in one direction only.

Materials and weather resistance

The structure is high-grade steel, shot-blasted and hot-dip galvanised, then finished with a double layer of weather-resistant polyester powder coating. The galvanising is the corrosion barrier; the coating carries the colour and the UV resistance. Four standard colourways are available: yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006), with other RAL references quoted on request.

What surface is needed in front of the station?

A firm, level and continuous surface from the path to the working position: bonded rubber, resin-bound gravel or concrete. Loose gravel, bark or grass will stop a chair before it reaches the handles, which defeats the purpose of the equipment. The 373 x 405 cm safety zone includes that approach.

Can able-bodied users train on it as well?

Yes, standing or seated on their own bench. Nothing in the geometry restricts it to wheelchair users, and mixed use is usually preferred by councils because it avoids marking out a separate segregated area.

Is the pylon supplied with the unit?

The 50 kg pylon is quoted with the station and set into its own foundation. Where several post-mounted units are grouped, some can share a pylon, which reduces both the cost and the number of foundations. We confirm this on the layout drawing.
