Description
This is a free-standing punchbag frame in 100% stainless steel, floor-fixed, for boxing and martial arts training outdoors or indoors. The 130 cm arm carries a cylindrical or MMA bag on an adjustable suspension system supplied with the frame; total height is 230 cm and the upright is 45 cm wide.
Stainless steel, and what that removes from the maintenance budget
The corrosion resistance of stainless steel is intrinsic to the metal rather than applied as a coating. There is no paint film to chip, no galvanising to inspect at the welds and no periodic surface treatment to schedule. In practice that matters most in the places where painted equipment fails first: coastal sites exposed to salt, northern sites exposed to freeze-thaw cycling, and roadside locations exposed to winter de-icing salt. Maintenance reduces to a rinse with clean water every six months, with no chemical products required.
Where it is specified
- Boxing clubs and martial arts gyms: a fixed striking station in the middle of a floor where the building structure will not take a reliable wall anchor.
- Urban parks and outdoor fitness trails: unsupervised public access, where the absence of a maintenance regime is the deciding factor for a local authority managing dozens of sites.
- Hotels and resorts: a premium outdoor training feature with no seasonal refinishing and no visible paint failure.
- Defence and institutional physical training centres: heavy daily use by trained users.
Standard and siting
The frame is certified to EN 16630:2015-06E, the standard for permanently installed outdoor fitness equipment, and is supplied with CE marking and an EU declaration of conformity — the documents required for public procurement and for installation in premises open to the public. EN 16630 applies to users of 1.40 m and above; the minimum recommended age for this equipment is 13. The regulatory safety zone is 14.83 m2, approximately 3.85 x 3.85 m around the frame, and must be clear of street furniture, dense planting and other fitness stations.
Confirm before ordering
Three figures are not stated on the available data sheet and must be confirmed at quotation stage: the maximum permissible load, the structural weight and the fixing type. The fixing method — cast-in or bolted base plate — depends on the substrate, whether concrete, paving or asphalt, and on the estimated load. The maximum bag diameter also depends on the suspension arrangement chosen, so give us the make, model, weight and diameter of any existing bag you intend to reuse.

Frequently asked questions
Can an outdoor stainless frame be installed indoors?
Yes. No additional treatment is required for indoor use. Check the 230 cm total height against the ceiling, allowing for the length of the suspended bag and a clearance margin.
Why does EN 16630 matter for a public tender?
EN 16630 sets requirements for structural strength, stability, safety zone and signage on permanent outdoor fitness equipment. The CE marking and EU declaration of conformity issued with delivery are the documents a public authority or an inspection body will ask for before the equipment can be brought into public use.
What surfacing should go under the bag?
A striking bag swings and users move laterally around it, so a hard surface is a fall risk. We recommend an impact-attenuating covering of at least 20 mm across the full 14.83 m2 safety zone; rubber tiles or tatami both work, and the flooring can be quoted with the frame.
