Description
This stainless steel outdoor back extension is a seated station loaded with Olympic plates, dedicated to strengthening the lower back. Lumbar strengthening is one of the most requested elements in injury prevention and one of the least covered by conventional outdoor equipment.
The seated extension guides the movement and meters the load with plates, which are the two conditions for safe lumbar work in an unsupervised setting. Free access equipment usually offers bodyweight core holds and nothing else; adding a guided, incrementally loaded extension completes the picture and lets a programme progress rather than plateau.
Construction is 316L marine grade stainless steel, specified for permanent outdoor exposure: no paint to renew, maintenance limited to cleaning and periodic inspection of the joints. Dimensioning targets professional use in open access, where the machine is used by unknown users without induction.

Which sites specify a lumbar station
Fire stations and barracks buy it for lumbar injury prevention among personnel whose work involves lifting and carrying. Municipalities add it to complete an outdoor strength area that would otherwise skip the posterior chain. Military bases value a targeted back station available at any hour. Commercial gyms and training boxes use it to extend the strength floor outdoors.
In open access the machine falls under EN 16630, requiring a peripheral safety zone of at least 1.50 metres and an EN 1177 compliant impact attenuating surface dimensioned to the free fall height; on enclosed private sites the same requirements remain best practice. Light In Fitness recommends its 40 to 65 mm impact attenuating tiles in bonded installation for the landing area. Manufacturer and distributor in Tours since 2013, we support more than 500 sites and include a free layout study, delivery, installation by our own teams and a professional warranty.
Frequently asked questions
Is this station suitable for rehabilitation?
It is training equipment, not a medical device. That said, the finely adjustable plate loading makes it appropriate for progressive return to activity supervised by a professional.
Why plate loading on an outdoor machine?
Unlike outdoor equipment with fixed resistance or bodyweight only, Olympic plates allow real, measurable progression exactly as indoors. Plates are stored nearby and the machine remains usable at every level.
Is installation included?
Light In Fitness carries out the layout study, prepares the anchoring and installs across France. The terms are set out on the quotation, which is free and issued within 24 working hours.
